B'ezras Hashem*,

To Mr. Azriel,

Greetings and blessings,

I receive with pleasure, by the intermediary of the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, one of the most senior among the Rabbanim* of Chabad*, Rav Yisrael Noach Belinitski,[1] news of the attitude that you have adopted toward him, of the help that you offer him, and, above all, of the attention that you give to satisfying all his needs.

Our Sages teach, in tractate Bava Basra 9b, that "one who gives a coin…[2] receives six brachos*," whereas "one who encourages him receives eleven brachos*." Commenting on the repetition of the verse "to heal, he shall heal," our Sages say: "From this one may conclude that the Torah* permits the physician to heal."

Nonetheless, there is reason to fear that one may rely entirely on the physician, to the point of forgetting Hashem*. According to several commentators, it is precisely for this reason that Chizkiyahu* concealed the "book of remedies."[3] Conversely, when the physician[4] is conscious of being the emissary of the One Who heals the illnesses of mankind and accomplishes wonders — that is, of Hashem* our Lrd — such a fear disappears, and the treatment that he prescribes can be particularly effective.

May Hashem* grant you blessing and success in all your actions. You will be the effective emissary who will alleviate the pains of those whom Hashgachah Pratis* will lead to consult you.

The reward of the mitzvah* is the mitzvah* itself. Thus, in your personal concerns, you will also obtain blessing and success in everything that pertains to you, materially and spiritually, as well as your wife and your children.

I conclude by mentioning what is timely and by wishing you to celebrate the festival of Pesach*, which is approaching, for us and for all Yisrael*, for the good, in a kosher* and joyous manner, for yourself and all the members of your household.

וכבר ידוע מאמר רז"ל (בבא בתרא ט' ע"ב) אשר הנותן פרוטה כו' מתברך בשש, משא"כ המפייסו מתברך באחד עשר, ואם בכלל דרשו רבותינו ז"ל ורפא ירפא מכאן שנתנה תורה רשות לרופא לרפאות אלא שהי' חשש בדבר שאולי יסמכו על הרופא בעצמו וישכחו אלקה עשהו שמטעם זה גנז יחזקי' ספר רפואות לדעת כמה מפרשים, הנה כשהרופא עצמו יודע אשר הוא הוא שלוחו של הרופא חולי כל בשר ומפליא לעשות הוא ה' אלקינו, הרי ממילא אין מקום לחשש זה ורפואותיו מצליחות ביותר, והשי"ת ישלח ברכה והצלחה במעשי כבודו להיות השליח הנכון להביא רפואה למכאובי האנשים אשר ההשגחה העליונה מביאם לידו, ושכר מצוה מצוה אשר גם בעניניו הפרטים תומשך ברכה והצלחה להמצטרך לו לזוגתו ולילידיהם שיחיו בגשמיות וברוחניות.

ומענינא דיומא אסיים, שיחוג את חג הפסח הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, בכשרות ובשמחה, הוא וכל בני ביתו שיחיו.
