Igrot Kodesh · Letter 207 — Kehot Publications Outreach to Sweden

To our friend, great Rav* and distinguished Chassid,* a man who fears Hashem, Rav Y. Zuber[1],

I send you greetings and blessings.

Sending packages abroad is now considerably easier[2]. We therefore seize this opportunity to draw your attention to the publications of the Kehot* publishing house, which was founded by my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita,* four years ago. There is unanimous agreement about the educational value of the books it publishes.

Certainly, some titles will not be useful in your country, as they are written in English. Others, however, are in Hebrew* or Yiddish* and may therefore interest readers there. Moreover, there are surely English speakers in Sweden.

You will find, at the end of the study guide, a list of our publications — books of Chassidut* and discourses by my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita.* There are surely people in your circle who are capable of understanding them.

We would like to know the situation in your country regarding education — that of the Jews who have long resided there, and that of the children of refugees.

We await your response on this point.

Our Sages say, in tractate Pesachim* 119a, that Yosef* concealed three treasures[3]. He himself received his name because "Hashem has added (Yosef*) another son"[4]. He thereby underscores the necessity of transforming the "other"[5] into a "son" — revealing, in doing so, the treasure he carries within and allowing it to exert its effect upon his character.

There are three means of achieving such a result:

A) First, one can bestow a blessing.* This is linked to money, which alludes to love — the necessary condition for the Kohanim's* blessing to be recited, as established by Halacha* in the Shulchan Aruch.* It therefore brings material abundance, wealth, and honor. This is the treasure that was discovered by Korach*[6].

B) There are, furthermore, those who do not practice Torah* and Mitzvot.* Yosef* therefore brings them to Teshuvah* — "converts"[7] even those who are under the dominion of the three forces of evil, utterly impure. This is the treasure that was revealed to Antoninus*[8].

C) There is, moreover, the possibility of elevating the divine service of those who already observe Torah* and Mitzvot.* This is the treasure reserved for the Tzaddikim*[9].

Naturally, the first two treasures are more relevant in this material world, while the third will be obtained in the future world, here below. When it is obtained, the Tzaddikim* will also attain Teshuvah.* The Gemara* therefore concludes that this third treasure will be revealed in the world to come.

It is clear that all those who are bound to Yosef* the Tzaddik*[10] must take the necessary steps — or at the very least, prepare their surroundings — to build the vessel that will contain the teachings and instructions of Yosef,* until the complete redemption, very soon and in our days.

אחר שהוקל כבר במדה ידועה האופן של משלוח חבילות לחו"ל, מוצאים אנו לנכון לעורר בזה את תשומת לבו על עניני הדפוס אשר חברת "קהת", שנתייסדה ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א, מו"ל זה כארבעה שנים ואשר בכל החוגים הודו על התועלת החנוכית אשר בהם.

אין שום ספק כי גם אם לא כלם יתאימו למדינת כת"ר, באשר חלק מהם כתוב בשפה אנגלית, אבל הכתובות בלשה"ק ובאידית בטח ימצאו חוג קוראים. ובודאי רבו בשוועדין היודעים גם את השפה האנגלית.

בסוף החוברת "מורה שיעור" ימצאו רשימת כל עניני הדפוס הנ"ל וגם רשימת ספרי דא"ח ושיחות כ"ק אדמו"ר שליט"א, אשר בטח ימצאו בסביבתו גם מי שיבין ספרים אלו.

מעונינים אנו לדעת אדות מצב החנוך במדינתו בין אצל היושבים שם מכבר ובין אצל ילדי הפליטים.

אמרז"ל (פסחים קיט, א) ג' מטמניות הטמין יוסף - שנקרא כן ע"ש יוסף לי ד' בן אחר, שמשתדל להפוך גם האחר לבן (אור התורה ד"ה בן פורת בארוכה) - וכוונתו היא שיתגלה המטמון ויפעול פעולתו, והוא בשלשה אופנים: א) שמברך וברכה היא ב"כסף", באהבה, כידוע מברכת כהנים והובא להלכה בשו"ע - בהשפעות גשמיות עושר וכבוד, שזהו ענין (שם בגמרא) מה שנתגלה לקרח (אוה"ת ס"פ ויגש). ב) אותם שאינם ממקיימי התומ"צ, עושה אותם לבעלי תשובה, בירור גם מגקה"ט, גרים, שזהו ענין נתגלה לאנטונינוס, ג) במקיימי תומ"צ פועל עילוי באופן עבודת ד' שלהם, שזהו ענין המטמון שמתגלה לצדיקים - ומובן שב' אופנים הראשונים שייכים ביותר עתה, בעוה"ז שבעוה"ז, ואופן הג' הוא בעוה"ב שבעוה"ז, ובפרט ענין לאתבא צדיקייא בתיובתא, וזהו שמסיים שם בש"ס - שיתגלה לע"ל.

ופשיטא שעל כל אחד מהמקושרים ושייכים ליוסף הצדיק, להעשות צנור, ועכ"פ לסייע ולהכשיר את הסביבה שלו, שתהי' כלי מוכן לקבל הוראות והשפעות יוסף, עד הגאולה שלימה ב"ב, שתהי' ע"י הקב"ה בעצמו בבחי' שנק' יוסף , כמ"ש בש"ך הובא באוה"ת ד"ה ויתן את קולו.
