B'ezras Hashem*,

11 Nissan 5713,

You[1] ask me about the brachah* recited over the sun.[2] In my opinion, in accordance with the majority opinion of the later Sages, one must indeed recite it, with the help of Hashem*.[3]

Its text is as follows: "Baruch*… She'asah ma'aseh bereishis*" and not "She'asah bereishis." Such is the opinion of the Alter Rebbe*, regarding the brachah* recited over thunder,[4] as he states in his Hilchos Berachos*.

[2] A brachah that is recited once every twenty-eight years, in Nissan, on a Wednesday morning, when the sun returns to the precise location where it was at the time of its creation. The question posed here is the following: Should this brachah be recited?

... במענה על שאלתו אודות ברכת החמה, הנה בדעתי וכדעת רוב המכריע של האחרונים, לברכה בעזה"י ובנוסח - עושה מעשה בראשית (ולא עושה בראשית) כיון שכן הוא דעת רבינו הזקן בענין ברכת הרעמים וכמ"ש בברכת הנהנין.
