By the grace of Hashem,

To the great rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Eliyahu HaKohen[1],

Greetings and blessings,

You let me know that you have set the date of the wedding of your daughter Yonina for 6 Nissan, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, in a positive manner.

May Hashem grant that this union be at a good and fruitful moment, from every point of view, that they build a binyan adei ad* in Israel, based on Torah and mitzvah*. One confers a merit upon a day that is by nature positive. Indeed, I learned this news on the day of the hilula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe[2], whose merit will protect us.

I therefore mentioned the name of your daughter near his holy tziyun*. Our Sages explain in Tractate Sotah* 34b the importance of the tziyun* of the tzaddikim*, of whom we drink the waters[3], and who are therefore "our fathers." Indeed, the verse "and you shall teach your children" receives the following interpretation: "That is, your students." The Zohar* explains it in detail in vol. 3, beginning from p. 70b.

With my blessing of mazal tov* for you and your wife the rebbetzin*, that you derive nachas* from your daughter and your son,

P.S.: Your daughter is the child of a Kohen, and her chasan* must therefore intensify his study of Torah. You will consult on this subject the responsa Tzemach Tzedek* Even HaEzer*, ch. 11.

הנה יה"ר מהשי"ת שתהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת בכל הפרטים ויבנו בנין עדי עד בישראל על יסוד התורה והמצוה, ומגלגלין זכות ליום זכאי אשר קבלתי הודעת[ו] זו ביום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע והזכרתי את בתו על הציון הק', וידוע מרז"ל (סוטה ל"ד ע"ב) במעלת ציונם של צדיקים שמימיהם אנו שותים ובמילא נק' הם אבותינו, ושננתם לבניך אלו התלמידים, ומבואר בארוכה בזח"ג דף ע' ע"ב ואילך.

בברכת מזל טוב לו ולזוגתו הרבנית תי' ולקבל נחת מבתם ובנם שיחיו.
