By the grace of Hashem,

16 Shevat 5713,

To the great rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Rav Sholom Tzvi[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I received in due time your request for blessing. I read it on the day of the hilula*[2], when I was near the holy tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us.

Several chassidim* immigrating from the Old Continent are being settled by the Joint*[3] in the city of Philadelphia. It is doubtless unnecessary to invite you to come to their aid, in every measure possible. You will also urge your friends and acquaintances to do the same, those having the power to intervene so that this settlement be fruitful.

Our Sages say that one urges to alacrity only those who possess this quality by nature[4]. It is for this reason that I address these few lines to you, and also so that you commit yourself fully in this matter.

With my blessing for success and good health for you and for your wife,

בודאי למותר לבקשו, בקשר לזה שכמה מאנ"ש שבאים מעבר לים קבעו בשבילם הדזוינט מקום מושבם בעיר פילאדעלפיא, אשר יעזור להם ככל האפשרי וכן ישתדל וימשיך בזה (אריינציען אין דעם) את ידידיו ומכיריו שיכולים להועיל להנ"ל בהסתדרות המתאימה וע"פ מרז"ל אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין הנה באתי בשורותי אלה לכת"ר שי' וגם לבקשו להעדפה בזה.

בברכת הצלחה ולבריאות הנכונה לו ולזוגתו תחי'.
