By the grace of Hashem,

To all the assembly of Yeshurun[2],

To those who cherish and support the Torah and the mitzvah,

May Hashem grant them long life,

Greetings and blessings,

This year is the thirteenth of the existence, in the United States of America, of the central Yeshivos Lubavitch. Its work and its development were introduced through the action and on the instructions of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, from his arrival in America, in 5700[3].

Hashem be thanked, by the merit of our holy masters, the sowing and the planting[4] of this field and this vineyard have borne their fruit, with a divine and considerable success. To this day, several hundreds of students of these yeshivos*, may Hashem multiply them, advantageously assume functions of rabbis, of religious teachers, of yeshivah* directors, of shochet*, and other sacred roles, in important Jewish communities.

Moreover, the students and those who have received their education in the Yeshivos Lubavitch having other means to earn their living nonetheless assume a sacred mission, spreading the Torah and the fear of Hashem, each one according to the means of which he disposes, finding himself systematically at the front rank, from the moment that it is a question of strengthening Judaism, in every place where they reside.

The rise and the development of this institution have also enlarged the budget necessary to maintain the totality of its annexes. Recently, its debts have become considerable, and they have surpassed what can be borne, to the point of placing in question its existence and seriously compromising its management and its expansion.

A significant aid is indispensable, as quickly as possible.

It is on the Sunday of Parshas Bo, second day of Shevat, that there will take place, with the help of Hashem, the annual celebration of the central Yeshivos Lubavitch. The direction of this institution awaits this deadline impatiently, in order to collect funds in a substantial manner, to lighten, at least in part, the weight of its debts. In this way, it will conserve the possibility of directing, in the future, the work of this institution, with the help of Hashem.

I address myself, by the present letter, to all those who cherish and support the Torah and the mitzvah, in order to solicit, to ask their aid, in all possible forms, to prepare this celebration, to take part in it, and to bring there their contribution, with a generous heart and an outstretched hand, to convince their friends and their acquaintances to do the same.

As our Sages have given us the assurance, the great merit which consists in coming to the aid of the persons devoting themselves to the study of the Torah of life, of the Words of the Hashem of life, is itself a source of life[5], protecting those who act and those who invite to action. May all be blessed with all the good, children, health, and material prosperity.

With my blessing so that the requests of your heart be positively granted, that we may, all together, witness the elevation of the lot of the Torah, of the Tradition of Israel, and the near, true, and complete redemption, through our righteous Moshiach.

ה' עליהם יחיו

שלום וברכה!

שנה זו היא שנת השלש עשרה לקיומו, בארצות הברית דאמריקה, של "מרכז הישיבות תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש", אשר עבודתו והתפתחותו כאן התחילה על ידיו ובפקודתו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע תיכף להתישבותו באמריקה בשנת ה'ש"ת.

ת"ל, ובזכות הוד כ"ק רבותינו הק' זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, הנה הזריעה והנטיעה של שדה וכרם זה עשו פרי בהצלחה אלקית מופלגה, וכהיום הרי הרבה מאות תלמידים, כן ירבו, מישיבות אלו מכהנים פאר בתור רבנים, ראשי מתיבתות וראשי ישיבות, שובי"ם ושאר משרות קודש בקהלות חשובות בישראל; וגם אלו מהתלמידים ומחונכי ישיבות תומכי-תמימים המתפרנסים באופן אחר - על משמרתם במשמרת הקודש הם עומדים, לעבוד, כל אחד לפי מעמדו ומצבו, בשדה הרבצת תורה ויראת שמים ולקחת חלק בראש בהעסקנות של חיזוק היהדות בכל מקומות מושבותיהם.

יחד עם הפרחת והגדלת המוסד גדלו ג"כ ההוצאות הכרוכות בכלכלתו לכל סעיפיו, ובעת האחרונה נתרבו החובות ועלו למעלה ראש עד שמזעזעים את קיומו של המוסד ומכבידים במאד את הנהלתו והתפתחותו.

עזרה ממשית נחוצה בהקדם האפשרי.

ביום ראשון לפרשת בא, שני בשבט הבע"ל, תתקיים אי"ה החגיגה השנתית של "מרכז הישיבות תומכי תמימים-ליובאוויטש", ואלי' עיני ההנהלה נשואות שתביא הכנסה חשובה ומסוימה בכדי להקל, על כל פנים במדה ידועה, את עול החובות ולתת את האפשריות לנהל עבודת המוסד להבא, בעזה"י.

והנני פונה בזה לכל חובבי ומוקירי תורה ומצוה בבקשה ודרישה לסייע ולעזור בכל האפשריות בהכנות להחגיגה השנתית, לבוא ולהשתתף בחגיגה זו ולתרום תרומת הקודש בלב נדיב וביד פתוחה, ולהשפיע גם על ידידיהם ומכיריהם בכיוון זה,

וכבר מובטחים אנו מחז"ל, אשר גדולה זכות החזקת לומדי תורת חיים, דברי אלקים חיים, מקור חיים - להגן על כל העושים והמעשים ושיתברכו בכל מילי דמיטב, בבני חיי ומזוני רויחי.

בברכה שימלאו משאלות לבבם לטובה ונזכה כולנו לראות בהרמת קרן התורה וקרן ישראל סבא ולגאולה קרובה אמיתית ושלימה ע"י משיח צדקנו.
