To the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,
In reply to your letter of 12 Menachem Av. Thank Hashem, your state of health has improved. You will no doubt continue to announce to me good news—you will tell me that you are getting better and better, then that you have completely recovered your health and that you can pursue your sacred mission, in strengthening the yeshivah*. The Zohar, vol. 3, p. 53b, comments on the verse "It is a Tree of Life and those who support it are happy." It explains: "Do not read me'ushar, happy, but me'rosho, at His head[2]." All this is explained in the chassidic discourse entitled "Etz Chaim," which was delivered in 5699[3].
You will also continue to draw close the hearts of Yidden to our Father Who is in heaven, in leading them toward Torah, tefillah and good deeds. Of course, one who adopts such an activity receives the recompense for it, in the satisfaction of his own needs, material and spiritual, as also those of the members of his family.
I thank you for what you have done for Mrs. ..., who is an agunah*[4]. You surely pursue your efforts, in the measure of the possible, and you encourage to do so those who find themselves on site. I thank you for the good news that you will be able to announce to me in this domain, and also for the meetings that you had, in Holland, with persons who will no doubt keep their word, as you say in your letter.
You have been sent, moreover, an extract from the words spoken during the Shabbos on which the month of Elul was blessed. You will surely diffuse it in the manner that befits.

במענה על מכתבו מי"ב מנ"א, הנה ת"ל אשר הוטב מצב בריאותו, ובטח יודיע בשו"ט להבא אשר הולך הלוך וטוב עד שיחזור לאיתנו ויוכל להמשיך בעבודתו בקדש, הן בעניני תמיכת הישיבה וכנאמר בזהר (ח"ג נג, ב) עץ חיים היא וכו' ותומכי' מאושר, אל תקרי מאושר אלא מראשו (נתבאר במאמר ד"ה עץ חיים דשנת תרצ"ט), וכן בענינים דקירוב לבן של ישראל לאבינו שבשמים ע"י שממשיכים אותם לתורה עבודה וגמ"ח, ומובן אשר המתעסק בזה בא על שכרו ולהמצטרך לו ולב"ב שיחיו בגשמיות וברוחניות.
ת"ח על טרחתו עד עתה בענין עגונא דאתתא מרת... ובטח ממשיך בזה באופן האפשרי, וכן מזרז את אלו הנמצאים על אתר. ות"ח על הבשו"ט שיבשר בזה, וכן מפגישתו עם האנשים במדינת הולנד שבטח ישלח - כהבטחתו במכתבו.
נשלח בפ"ע קטע מהר"ד דש"ק מברכים חדש אלול שבטח יפרסמו באופן המתאים.
