Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter, which was not dated. You wish to come here for the Yamim Noraim*[1], which approach. And your wife has signified her agreement to you, as was already the case last year.

It seems to me that this is a good decision. Nevertheless, the moment has come for you to find someone, in your locality, who is capable of pronouncing at least a few words of encouragement during these awesome days, and during all the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah*, in the various shuls of your city.

Various texts of Chassidus*, and even elementary logic, permit one to establish that a competent and effective teacher is one who forms his talmid* to act by his own means and to influence others, in his turn[2].

Likewise, it would be good that you bring joy to your wife, in the manner that befits[3]. Indeed, you will come here for all this time, while she herself will remain there.

הנה לדעתי נכון הדבר, אלא שכבר בא העת שימצא מי על אתר אשר עכ"פ במקצת ידבר דברי התעוררות במשך ימים הנוראים הבע"ל ובכל עשי"ת, בביהכ"נ שונים ב...

וידוע המובא בכ"מ בדא"ח ומובן ג"כ בשכל אנושי בפשטות, אז א גוטער בר פועל און א גוטער מלמד איז דער שלמד את התלמיד ואת הנפעל שיכלו להיות פועלים בעצמם וילמדו בעצמם, וכן הי' מהראוי שישמח את זוגתו תחי' באופן המתאים, כיון שהוא יסע לכאן על משך זמן הנ"ל והיא תשאר שם...
