To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem
and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,
It has been quite a long time since I have had news from you and from the members of your family. I wish to infer from this that you and they are well and that you earn your livelihood properly. Nevertheless, our holy Torah states, at the beginning of Yoreh Deah[2], that one cannot rely on a mere presumption whenever verification is possible. You will therefore confirm all this to me explicitly.
Some time ago, you asked me about what the Tanya* states on page 30, line 7: "They have denied Hashem." These are the words of the verse Yirmiyahu* ch. 5, v. 12. You will also consult the Derech Mitzvosecha*, at the end of the mitzvah* of the unity of Hashem, page 62b.
I extend my blessing for success in all that has just been said and for the public shiurim* you give in order to exalt and glorify the Torah. And, in the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe: "Spend the summer in good health and joyfully."

שלום וברכה!
זה מזמן שלא שמעתי מהנעשה אתו ועם ב"ב שיחיו. ורצוני לפרש את הדבר אשר שלום לו ולכל ב"ב, וגם מצב הפרנסה היטב, בכ"ז ע"פ פסק תורתנו הק' שבמקום שיש לברר אין סומכין על החזקה (יו"ד בתחלתו). הרי בטח יודיע עד"ז בפירוש.
ומה שהעיר מאז מ"ש בתניא דף ל' שורה ז', וכחשו בה' - הנה הוא מלשון הכתוב ירמי' ה' פסוק י"ב, וראה ג"כ בספר דרך מצותיך מצות אחדות ה' בסופה (דף ס"ב ע"ב).
