To the rav*, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

A) I received your letters of 23 Nissan, of Rosh Chodesh Iyar, and the preceding ones. I await good news of the organization of the yeshivah* and of Beis Rivkah in Casablanca for the new school year that is now beginning. You know the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who states that the beginning conditions all that occurs subsequently.

B) I thank you for sending me the sefarim* [2] whose list was attached to your letter of 23 Nissan. You will tell me, if necessary, what letters of thanks must be addressed to those who gave them.

Nevertheless, I am a little surprised. According to my information, a very great number of Kabbalistic sefarim* were printed in North Africa, particularly in Djerba. Now, there are only a few of them among those you send me. Perhaps it would be good to inquire about this.

C) I enclose for you a reply for the shochet* of your city. Kindly transmit it to him. I thank you for this. If complementary explanations are necessary, you will find the appropriate words to give them to him.

I will write in the coming days to the rav* of Taourirt.

D) It is possible that one of the members of the youth of the association of Chabad* Chassidim* here will visit Morocco in a week or two. He is a talmid* of the Lubavitch yeshivah*, the great rav* and chassid*, Rav Shalom Haskind, who is going to the Holy Land and, on his way, will visit Morocco at my request.

He speaks Hebrew, for he lived in the Holy Land for several years, and he has a good knowledge of the revealed part of the Torah and of Chassidus*. One must therefore profit from his passage to have him speak before the young teachers — and perhaps even in the presence of the older Sefardim* — and, of course, the talmidim*.

If all this is well organized, there is good hope that an outpouring of enthusiasm will result among the talmidim*, the teachers, and the educators of the Sefardim*. He will be able to remain in Morocco the time necessary for this. But the preparations, if they take time, will have to be carried out in advance.

You have surely received in its time the telegram concerning Mr. Shalom [3].

אאשר קבלת מכתביו מכ"ג ניסן ור"ח אייר והקודמים להם, ואחכה לבשו"ט מסידור הישיבה והבית רבקה בקסבלנקה לזמן החדש המתחיל עתה, וידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אז ווי מען שטעלט אוועק אזוי גייט דאס.

ב) ת"ח על הטרחה בשילוח הספרים שרשימתם נמצאת במכתבו דכ"ג ניסן. ובטח יודיע (אם יש נחיצות בזה) ע"ד המכתבי תודה למשלחיהם. ולפלא קצת, שכפי הידיעה הנה נדפסו בצפון אפריקה ובפרט בג'רבה מספר רב ביותר של ספרי קבלה, ובהספרים ששולח אין ספרים כאלו אלא אחדים ממש, ואולי כדאי לחקור ולדרוש עד"ז.

ג) מוסג"פ מכתב מענה להשו"ב דמחנם, אשר מטובו למסור לו. ות"ח על הטרחה.

ואם נצרך לתוספת ביאור, בטח ימצא האותיות המתאימות לזה, להרב מתאורירט אכתוב ימים אלו.

ד) אפשר הדבר, אשר בעוד כשבוע או שבועיים יבקר במרוקה אחד מצעירי אגודת חב"ד בכאן תלמיד ישיבת תומכי תמימים והוא האברך הרה"ג והרה"ח וכו' מו"ה שלום שי' חאסקינד (הנוסע לאה"ק ת"ו ויסור, בדרכו למרוקה בשליחותי). וכיון שהוא מדבר בלה"ק (כי הי' דר באה"ק ת"ו משך איזה שנים) וכן יד לו בלימוד נגלה וחסידות, הנה יש לנצל הזדמנות זו שינאום לפני המורים הצעירים, ואולי גם בנוכחות הספרדים הקשישים ומכש"כ בפני התלמידים, שאם יסודר זה באופן המתאים, הרי יש לקוות שיגרום התעוררות גדולה בין הת' ובין המורים והמחנכים שמבין הספרדים, והוא יוכל להתעכב במרוקה משך זמן הדרוש להנ"ל, אלא שההכנה הדרוה לזה - באם דורשת זמן - יש לעשותה מקודם.
