To the Chassidim* who fear Hashem and

devote themselves to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I have learned with pleasure, from the great rav*, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs and is full of alacrity, Rav Chaim Menachem Ben Tziyon Blumenkrans, of your fruitful communal activities, of each one in particular and of all in general, in particular of the great mitzvah* that constitutes the construction of the mikvah* in your city of Bogotá. You have, indeed, constituted a committee to build it.

It is no doubt unnecessary to tell you to what extent this construction is important. It is, on the one hand, one of the most fundamental mitzvos* of our holy Torah. Furthermore, taharas hamishpachah* and all that pertains to it are one of the essential supports through whose merit the Jewish people has the strength to bear the difficulty and the yoke of golus*, to be in good moral and physical health.

Moreover, this mitzvah* concerns not only those who put it directly into practice — that is, the husband and his wife — but also the children they will have, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren, until the end of generations.

When the parents observe the laws of taharas hamishpachah*, the children are healthy. If the parents do not, chas veshalom*, they impair the soul and body of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Moreover, this mitzvah* is not limited to the couple and its children. It concerns the entire Jewish people in its entirety, as is established by various texts of our Sages. Through purity, the Shechinah* dwells within Yisrael*.

For all these reasons, it is fitting to construct, as quickly as possible, the most beautiful mikvah*. The effort you will make in this domain is particularly necessary. Every action in this direction is indispensable, provided that one arrives at a positive outcome as quickly as possible. And the Holy One, blessed is He, acts "measure for measure" but in increased manner, with interest that exceeds the principal.

May Hashem satisfy the needs, according to what they are, of each and every one — those who devote themselves to this mitzvah* or who bring their participation to it. May they conceive, in particular, much satisfaction and pleasure from their children, in every domain.

As my personal participation in this great mitzvah*, I enclose for you a check for eighteen shekels. May Hashem grant that you collect many times this amount, and that you complete this mikvah* as quickly as possible, that you multiply kedushah* and purity in every place, with the help that Hashem will grant you.

With my blessing for success and for all good, materially and spiritually,

בנועם נודעתי ע"י הרה"ג הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ בעל מרץ וכו' מוה"ר חיים מנחם בן ציון שי' בלומענקראנץ, מעסקנותם הטובה בכלל ובפרט בעסק מצוה גדולה היא בנין מקוה במחנם הט' באגאטא אשר נכנסים הם בועד לענין בנין המקוה.

ובטח למותר להאריך בגודל ערך ענין זה, אשר נוסף שזהו אחת מהמצות העיקריות שבתורתנו הקדושה, הנה טהרת המשפחה וכל ענינים הקשורים בזה הוא אחד מעמודי התוך, שבזכותם ועל ידם יש בכח עם ישראל לסבול את כל קושי ועול הגלות ולהיות בריאים בגופם ובנשמתם, עוד זאת אשר קיום מצוה זו אינו ענין של מקיימי המצוה, הבעל והאשה בלבד, אלא שזה נוגע לבנים הנולדים ולבניהם ולבני בניהם עד סוף כל הדורות, אשר כאשר ההורים שומרים דיני טהרת המשפחה, אזי בניהם ובנותיהם הם ילדים כשרים, ובאם ח"ו אין ההורים נזהרים בזה, הרי זה פגם בנשמת ובגוף הילדים, ילידיהם וילידי ילידיהם וכו' וכו', ועוד זאת אשר ענין זה אינו ענין פרטי של הורים וילידיהם אלו, אלא הוא ענין כללי של עם ישראל, וכמבואר בכמה מקומות בדרז"ל, אשר על ידי הטהרה השכינה שורה בישראל, ומפני כל טעמים אלו, הרי ההקדם בבנין המקוה ביפי' והתעמולה שישתדלו בקיום מצוה זו מוכרח ביותר, וכל טרחה כדאית בשביל להביא הענין לידי גמר טוב ולהקדימו עד כמה שאפשר, ומדתו של הקב"ה הרי היא מדה כנגד מדה אבל בתוספת, ובתוספת מרובה על העיקר,

ויהי רצון מהשי"ת אשר כל המתעסקים והמשתתפים במצוה רבה זו, ישפיע להם השי"ת את המצטרך לכל אחד ואחד לפני ענינו ובפרט בריבוי נחת וענג מילידיהם שיחיו בכל הפרטים.

בתור השתתפותי גם אני במצוה רבה זו, הנני מסגיר פה המחאה - טשעק - ע"ס ח"י שקל. ויהי רצון אשר יעלה בידם לאסוף כמה וכמה פעמים ככה ולגמור את המקוה בהקדם היותר אפשרי ולהרבות הקדושה והטהרה בכל מקום ומקום בעזר השי"ת עליהם.
