I bless and greet you,

I received your letter in due course. You inform me that you carry on an educational activity. Indeed, you are a teacher in the Orthodox school founded by the Peylim association. You also request a brachah* to have children. You tell me that a doctor advised you to cease your professional activity, which weakens your state of health.

Your work consists of bringing Jews close to their Father Who is in Heaven, of instilling in them the consciousness that "you are sons unto the Eternal your Hashem." In my opinion, it is therefore not good to interrupt it completely in order to have children. There would be in this two facts that would contradict each other. It is, on the contrary, by drawing close to Hashem His sons and His daughters that you yourself shall, physically, have children.

I therefore propose that you pursue your pedagogical activity, but, to the extent possible, without there resulting from it anything negative for your state of health. The appropriate effort shall enable you to obtain such a position, near your home, and also to improve your working conditions, even if this reduces your salary. In this way, you shall pursue your educational shlichus*, and Hashem shall cause that, with your husband, you may soon convey to me good news, the fact that the wish of your heart has been positively fulfilled and that you have had a child.

Of course, it is necessary, for all this, to take the ways of nature, and you shall therefore conform to the prescriptions of doctors specialized in this domain. Your husband shall do the same.

בעתו קבלתי מתבה, בו מודיעה על דבר עבודתה בשדה חינוך הכשר בתור מורה בבית ספר חרדי הנוסד ע"י חברת הפעילים, כן מביעה בקשתה וחפצה להתברך מהשי"ת בזרעה חייא וקיימא, ומוסיפה ג"כ אשר רופא מומחה הציע לה להפסיק את עבודתה כיון שהיא הורסת את בריאותה.

הנה לדעתי, כיון שעבודתה הוא בזה שמקרבת לבם של ישראל לאביהם שבשמים ומעוררת בהם את ההרגש שבנים הם לה' אלקינו, הנה אין כדאי להפסיק את זה לגמרי כדי להתברך בזרעא חייא וקיימא, כיון שזהו תרתי דסתרי, ואדרבה על ידי זה שמקרבת את בניו ובנותיו שיהיו אלו להשי"ת הרי זה סגולה להולדת בנים גם בשמיות, ולכן עצתי שתמשיך בהתעסקותה בשדה החינוך אבל באופן שלא יעמיס זה על בריאותה עד כמה שאפשר, ובטח בהשתדלות המתאימה תוכל להשיג עבודה מסוגל הנ"ל בסמיכות למקום דירתה, וכן גם לשפר תניא העבודה אף אם על ידי זה תוקטן השכירות ובאופן שתמשיך בעבודת חינוך הכשר, והשי"ת יעזרה ואת בעלה שי' לבשר בשורה טובה בקרובה אשר נתמלאו משאלות לבבה לטובה ונפקדה בזרעא חייא וקיימא.

מובן מעצמו שצריך להיו אחיזה לכל הנ"ל בדרכי הטבע, ובמילא צריכה היא ובעלה שיחיו למלאות אחרי הוראות רופאים מומחים בענינם זה.
