To the leaders of Agudas Chabad in Eretz HaKodesh*,

may it be rebuilt and restored,

I greet and bless you,

A) You have surely received my correspondence of 28 Adar[1], and I am still awaiting your response.

B) In some of my previous letters, I evoked the coordination committee that has been constituted here. The Jewish Agency has promised houses for the young immigrants from Yemen and from Morocco. It was to give an amount of one hundred thousand, but this is constantly delayed, from day to day and from month to month.

There was, yesterday, a meeting between the representative of this committee and Mr. Nachum Goldmann, who was accompanied by his advisors. It was said, in an official manner, that the distribution of this sum had already begun. The decision falls to Mr. Kol, of the Jewish Agency. Ten thousand have already been given to Sagéra, which is, it seems to me, a settlement belonging to the Mizrachi[2].

Furthermore, I have received a telegram from Mr. Gellman, regarding the building in Lod. I have, once again, energetically requested that this amount of one hundred thousand be allocated to Chabad, in particular for this edifice in Lod, intended for the talmidim* coming from the countries cited above. Nevertheless, the final decision belongs to Mr. Kol, and there will be many requests for this amount.

You must therefore obtain, by all means, the largest possible sum for the building in Lod, and likewise for that of Kfar Sefarya Chabad[3], whose restoration has begun without one's having all the necessary means to carry it out.

You will surely be set as a condition the reservation of this building for the youths previously cited. You shall doubtless be able to organize all this in the appropriate manner. It must be hoped that, with time, there will be still other subsidies, beyond these one hundred thousand. But no date can be cited, and one must therefore not count on it. Ardor and alacrity are, in this matter, particularly necessary.

I shall doubtless send a telegram on this subject this very day, but I also address to you the present, in order to bring some additional precisions.

C) In conformity with the promise of Mr. Gellman, the construction materials for whose acquisition has been granted a large part of these subsidies must be obtained at the lowest possible cost, in function of the organization adopted and of the exchange rate currently in force in Eretz HaKodesh.

D) It is unfortunate that you do not transmit to me, in time, precise information about all that is happening. This would spare me from having to obtain it through another channel and, moreover, with delay. Indeed, this information does not always reach me through faithful friends of Lubavitch. And, often, they communicate it to me only because they cannot do otherwise. You must understand what I mean.

א) מכתבי מכ"ח אדר, בטח נתקבל, ואחכה למענה עליו.

ב) באחדים ממכתביי לפנים כתבתי ע"ד הקארדינייטעד קומיטה אשר כאן, ואשר הסוכנות הבטיחה לתת בשביל בתים לנוער העולה מתימן, מרוקו וכיו"ב לעת עתה סכום של מאה אלף ואחרי רוב הדיחויים מיום ליום ומחדש לחדש, הנה באסיפה שהיתה אתמול בין ב"כ קומיטה הנ"ל עם מר נחום גולדמן ועוזריו הודיעו הדברים באופן רשמי, אשר כבר התחילו לחלק את הסכום הנ"ל, ואשר ההחלטה בזה הוא בידי מר קול מהסוכנות, ואשר כבר נתנו 10 אלפים לסג'רה - כמדומה לי שזהו מושב המתיחס להמזרחי -. ביחד עם זה קבלתי ג"כ המברק של מר געלמאן בהנוגע להבנין בלוד, ופניתי כאן עוד הפעם בדרישה בתוקף שמהסכום מאה אלף הנ"ל יתנו לחב"ד ובפרט להבנין בלוד, שיש להקציבו בשביל התלמידים מארצות הנ"ל, אבל מובן שכיון שההחלטה היא בידי מר קול, והסכום הכללי יהי' עליו כמה וכמה תובעים וקופצים, הנה יש להם להשתדל בכל האופנים, שיתנו להם את המקסימום האפשרי בשביל הבנין בלוד, וכן גם בשביל הבנין בכפר חב"ד-ספריא שהתחילו בשיפורו, ואין בידם כל האמצעים הנצרכים לזה. קרוב הדבר שיהי' תנאי מצדם שישתמשו בהבנין דוקא בשביל הנוער הנ"ל, ובטח יוכלו לסדר הדברים באופן המתאים. יש לקוות שבמשך הזמן יהיו עוד סכומים לבד המאה אלף הנ"ל, אבל אין לקבוע המועד לזה ובמילא אין לסמוך ע"ז ולכן הזריזות והמרץ בזה נחוצים ביותר. אפשר אשלח מברק עד"ז היום, אבל תיאור המצב יותר בפרטיות, הנני בא ג"כ במכתבי זה.

ג) כפי הבטחת מר גולדמן וכו' הנה החמרי בנין שלתכלית זה הוקצב חלק גדול מהסכומים הנ"ל צריכים הם לקבל במחיר היותר זול האפשרי מתאים לפי הסדרים והשער של המטבע שנקבעה עתה באה"ק ת"ו.

ד) חבל על שאינם מודיעים בעתם ובזמנם ידיעות מפורטות בכל השייך לענינים אלו, מבלי שאצטרך לקבל הידיעות מן הצד, ואפשר שג"כ באיחור זמן, כיון שלא בכל פעם הידיעות מתקבלים מרעים ואוהבים נאמנים דליובאוויטש, ולפעמים מודיעים רק מפני שאין להם ברירה אחרת וד"ל...
