I greet and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 28 Adar. You tell me that you teach in a Talmud Torah*, in classes for the eight to ten year-olds. Now, the situation is such that there are, in these classes, both boys and girls. You ask me whether you may continue your teaching.

You conclude your letter by specifying that, in the larger classes, the boys and the girls are separated, and this is precisely how it should be. In my opinion, you may therefore continue your teaching. Nevertheless, you shall immediately establish a separation in the class, by placing the ones on the right and the others on the left. With time, you shall surely have the possibility of improving things.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ח אדר, בו כותב שלומד בהת"ת בכתות שהילדים הם בגיל של 10 - 8 שנה, אבל מפני מצב הענינים שם, לומדים הנערים ונערו ביחד, ושואל דעתי אם ימשיך לימודו בכתה זו.

הנה לדעתי, כיון שמסיים בכמבתו, שהכתה הגדולה לומדים שם הנערים והנערות מובדלים זמ"ז, שכך צריך להיות, לכן כדאי שישאר במשרתו, אלא שתיכף יסדר שישבו לא בערבוביא, הינו אלו לצד ימין ואלו לצד שמאל, ובמשך הזמן בטח יעלה בידו לשפר המצב עוד יותר...
