To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem

and devotes himself to communal needs,

I greet and bless you,

A) I respond to your letter concerning the printing of the Tanya[2]. You know my position in this matter, stated some time ago. It can be carried out only by photographing the Yeshiva edition, which was proofread by the Rebbe Rashab. Why find oneself confronted with doubt and assume responsibility for a correction one can do without?

B) Concerning the printing of the Siddur Tehillas Hashem, please convey to me the details. You will tell me which Siddur you have in mind — the one that was published in Rostov, or the complete edition of Tehillas Hashem. Furthermore, will you make a photograph of the existing edition, or will the text be set anew?

I understood from your letter that the printer is offering to advance the funds. He must therefore impose conditions accordingly, and please write them out for me. These must be known from the outset, in detail.

With my brachah* for a kosher and joyous Yom Tov of Pesach, and in anticipation of your good news as soon as possible,

... ב) במענה על מכ' בענין הדפסת התניא, הנה יודע דעתי בזה זה מכבר, אשר אין להדפיס את התניא שלא ע"י פוטוגרפיא מהוצאות תו"ת שהוגה ע"י כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב נ"ע, ולמה לנו לכנוס בספיקות לקבל עלינו אחריות הגהה כיון שאפשר בלא"ה.

ג) בענין הדפסת הסידור תהלת ה', הנה מטובו להודיעני עוד פרטים בזה, היינו לאיזה סידור כוונתו, אם לזה שנדפס ברוסטוב או לתהלת ה' השלם, אם תהי' ההדפסה ע"י פוטוגרפיא או בסידור מחדש וכו' וכו'ו.

וכפי שהבנתי ממכתבו, הנה המדפיס מציע להדפיס זה ע"ח הוא, א"כ בטח יש לו תנאים מצדו ג"כ, אשר בודאי יעלה את זה על הכתב, ובכ"א צריך לדעת זאת מקודם בפרטיות.
