Volume 5 · Letter 237

By the grace of Hashem,

12 Adar 5712,

Brooklyn, New York,

I greet and bless you,

I received, through HaRav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, HaRav Shlomo Zalman Hecht, your contribution to our chinuch* work in North Africa. Your participation comes truly in its proper time.

The work in North Africa was introduced at the initiative of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, shortly before he left this world. Baruch Hashem*, it has expanded and developed. One can observe that a divine hatzlachah* accompanies it, despite the difficulties that strew its path.

In the latest report sent to me from there, there is a list of the fifty-two institutions that have been established, in various towns and villages, including the most remote, of Morocco. This wide school network is called Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch, after the name of its founder. It comprises a teacher-training school, advanced yeshivos, elementary yeshivos, talmudei Torah, Beis Rivkah schools for girls, and evening classes for adults.

The children receive free of charge a chinuch in conformity with the demands of kedushah*, and many of them receive material aid, meals and clothing distributed gratuitously.

The results are, baruch Hashem, very satisfying, but we cannot content ourselves with them. We have no right to forget that there are thousands of weakened children, devoid of Torah, receiving no chinuch and exposed to great moral danger.

It is therefore to be hoped that our friends, on their side, increase the amount of their participation in this work of saving Jewish neshamos*. Your participation opens wide channels which allow the divine brachos* to be revealed and integrated, for you and for the members of your family, materially and spiritually together.

With my brachah* for good news of you and all your family,
