To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and
devotes himself faithfully to communal needs,
Rav Yosef[1],

Greetings and brachos*,

For some time, I have not had news from you, and I must therefore rely on the chazakah*[2]. Indeed, when one does not receive letters, that means everything is going well. It even seems to me that a popular saying in English says that "no news is good news."

I received a letter signed by ..., but it seemed to me that you wrote it. I am therefore enclosing a copy of the reply to the request for brachah* and the letter addressed to Rav M. HaKohen[3].

I do not know which of you[4] is, in this case, the principal intervener, and I recalled, on this subject, what my father-in-law, the Rebbe, says at the end of chapter 12 of Kuntres Limud HaChassidus, commenting on the Mishnah "two persons take hold of a garment, each one claiming to have found it"[5]. You will consult the explanation given on this subject. In any event, the conclusion is the following: each of you will be rewarded.

May Hashem grant that one have recourse to me for good things, and that Yidden* be in good health, physically and morally.

With my brachah* of success in your sacred shlichus* and of good health, for you and for your wife,

שלום וברכה!

זה זמן שלא שמעתי ממנו ובאין ברירה הנני מעמידו על החזקה, וכידוע אשר כשלא היו מתקבלים מכתבים ה"ז סימן שהכל בסדר, וכמדומה שיש ג"כ "אמרי אינשי" בלשון אנגלית, כשאין חדשות ה"ז גופא ידיעה טובה.

קבלתי מכתב בחתימת יד... אבל כמדומה שזה כתב ידו של כ"מ שי', ובמילא מוסג"פ העתק המענה על הפ"נ ומכ' הר"מ שי' הכהן.

ובאשר איני יודע מי מכם העיקר בענין זה, הרי נזכרתי במה שכתב כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בקונטרס לימוד החסידות ספי"ב, שזהו פירוש המשנה דשנים אוחזין בטלית שזה אומר אני מצאתי' וז"א אני מצאתי' ועיין שם הפירוש, וסיום הענין אשר כל אחד יבוא על שכרו, ויה"ר מהשי"ת אז מען זאל מיר נוצען אויף געזונטע זאכן און אידן זאלן געזונט זיין בגשמיות וברוחניות.
