Greetings and brachos*,

I reply to your letter, in which you inform me, among other things, of the state of your wife. You will consult a specialist doctor in this domain, who will indicate to her how she should conduct herself during her pregnancy.

For your part,

A) You will have it verified that the mezuzos* of your house are kosher.

B) You will ask your wife to give tzedakah* for the fund of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess[1] before lighting the candles, on Shabbos eve and yom tov* eve.

C) When she is in fact pregnant, she will not speak of it to anyone before the fifth month.

D) When she is pregnant, you will read, in the Krias Shema* of bedtime, before the brachah* of HaMapil, the kapitel* Lamenatzeach Ya'ancha[2]. After this reading, you will say a second time the verse Ya'ancha[3]. In doing so, or just before, you will ask Hashem that your reading be considered as if it were accompanied by all the kavanos* fitting to have when pronouncing these words.

E) When your wife is pregnant, in a good and fruitful moment, you will inform here, so that the news may be transmitted at the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

It is unnecessary to remind you of the importance of all the practices bound to taharas hamishpachah*, which are set forth by the poskim*. May Hashem grant that you announce good news to me.

במענה על מכתבו שבו כותב ג"כ ע"ד מצב אשתו תחי', הנה ישאל דעת רופא מומחה למקצוע זה שיתן לזוגתו תחי' הוראות איך שתתנהג בימי עיבורה, והוא מצדו א) יבדוק המזוזות בביתם שיהיו כשרות, ב) יראה שזוגתו תחי' תתן צדקה לקופת רבי מאיר בעל הנס קודם הדלקת נרות בכל עש"ק ועריו"ט, ג) כשתתעבר לא תפרסם הדבר עד שתכנס לחדש החמישי להריונה, ד) כשתתעבר, הנה בק"ש שעל המטה יאמר קודם ברכת המפיל הקאפיטל תהלים למנצח יענך וכשיגמור הקאפיטל יחזור עוד הפעם על הפסוק יענך ובעת אמירתו או קודם לאמירתו יחשוב שיה"ר מלפני השי"ת כאילו כיוון כל הכוונתו שייכות לזה, ה) כשתתעבר אשתו בשעה טובה ומוצלחת יודיע לכאן, למען למסור את זה על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ולמותר להאריך בנחיצות ההנהגות בכל ענינים השייכים לטהרת המשפחה כמבואר בפוסקים והשי"ת יזכהו לבשר טובות.
