Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1420 — Chassidus Scholarship

To my close relative, the rav*, distinguished chassid*
who fears Hashem, Rav Isser[1],

Greetings and brachos*,

I duly received your letter and your request for brachah* on the occasion of the day of the hilula*[2].

You write to me that you were shown, in the Siddur Beis Otzar, a chassidishe* maamar* of the Tzemach Tzedek. You will kindly compare its text with the one that explains the prohibition of kindling fire on Shabbos, appearing in the Sefer HaMitzvos of the Tzemach Tzedek[3].

It seems to me that I saw this Siddur when I was in Paris. In any case, you will verify whether it is indeed the reproduction of this text. I thank you for it in advance.

I am surprised to have no news for some time of Yeshivas Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak of Melbourne, all the more so since during the first months of a new institution, every detail is even more important.

מכתבו והפ"נ ליום ההילולא נתקבל, ומ"ש במכתבו שהראו לו בסידור בית האוצר מאמר דא"ח של הצ"צ, מטובו להשוות את המאמר שנדפס בסידור הנ"ל עם ממצות איסור הבערה בשבת הנדפס בספר המצות להצ"צ שכמדומה לי שראיתי סידור זה בהיותי בפאריז, ואם זהו ה"ז העתקה ממצוה הנ"ל ות"ח מראש על הטרחה בזה.

אתפלא במה שזה זמן רב שאין אצלי ידיעות מהנעשה בישיבת אהל"י[י] במעלבורן ובפרט שזה חדשים הראשונים להוסדה שאז כל פרט נוגע ביותר.
