communal leader of multiple accomplishments, the
benefactor,
Rav Shmuel Toledano,

Greetings and brachos*,

I received with pleasure the report given to me by my representative, director of the European bureau for aid to refugees and their integration, in Paris, the great rav*, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself faithfully to communal activities, Rav Binyamin Gorodetzky[1], concerning the visit he made to your city[2].

I was particularly satisfied to hear about you and the positive actions you carry out to strengthen Torah and Yiddishkeit* within your community, in particular in the pedagogical domain and in that of public study of Torah.

My heart also rejoiced upon learning of your decision to have a yeshiva and a Talmud Torah* built, in the spirit of Torah and tradition.

It is unnecessary to describe, to someone like yourself, the great merit and the mitzvah* of seeking the good of all. And, you can rely, from this point of view, upon the One Who will grant you your reward in this world and in olam haba*.

Everything that lives develops and extends. I therefore have good hope that your fruitful accomplishments will go on growing, will strengthen themselves, thanks to your efforts and to the influence you exercise on others. Hashem will grant you and all those who take part in this work an immense brachah* and great success, in your communal activities and in your personal concerns, in a visible and tangible good, morally and physically.

I wish to receive good news of the broadening and the development of your activities, of the multiplication of public shiurim* on nigleh* of Torah and on Chassidus*, which is its luminary, of your fruitful accomplishments in bringing the hearts of Yidden* and Yiddishe* women closer to their Father Who is in heaven.

נעם לי לקבל הרצאת בא-כוחי, מנהל הלשכה האירופית לעזרת פליטים וסידורם אשר בפאריס, הרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצרכי ציבור באמונה וכו' מוהר"ר בנימין שי' גורודצקי, על דבר ביקורו במחנם.

וביחוד שמחתי לשמוע שמעו הטוב של מעלת כבודו ופעולותיו הטובות להחזקת התורה והיהדות בקהלתם, ובפרט בעניני החינוך הכשר, וקביעות עתים לתורה ברבים.

גם הוסיפה שמחה בלבי הידיעה על דבר התעוררות לבנות ישיבה ותלמוד תורה ברוח התורה והמסורה.

והנה למותר להאריך לדכוותי' בגודל הזכות והמצוה להיות ממזכי הרבים, אשר זכות הרבים תלוי בו, ונאמן הוא בעל מלאכתו לשלם שכרו בזה ובבא.

ותקותי חזקה, אשר ככל דבר חי הניכר בגידולו והתפתחותו, הנה גם עבודתו הטובה תלך הלוך וגדול מחיל אל חיל, על ידי תוספת כח ועוז בהשתדלותו הוא ובהשפעתו על אחרים. והשם יתברך ויתעלה ישפיע עליו ועל כל המשתתפים בעבודת הקדש שפעת ברכה והצלחה הן בעבודתם הציבורית והן בעניניהם הפרטיים בטוב הנראה והנגלה מנפש ועד בשר.

אשמח לקבל בשורות טובות מהגדלת והרחבת פעולותיהם הטובות, בהוספת שיעורי לימוד ברבים הן בתורת הנגלה והן בתורת החסידות המאור שבתורה, ובהשתדלותם הטובה לקרב לבות בני ובנות ישראל לאביהם שבשמים.
