Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 9 Teves, with the requests for a brachah* it contained.

You tell me that your son is inclined to stealing, chas veshalom*. It is necessary to consult a specialist doctor in this matter, for it is a form of weakness which one knows how to treat in our days.

Of course, this does not prevent you from reading a chapter of Tehillim* each day, in addition to the usual reading, from giving, before Shacharis* and Minchah*, a coin or even three coins to tzedakah*, for the merit of your son.

You will also check the tzitzis* of his tallis katan*, and you will make sure that he does not walk bareheaded. You will have the mezuzos* of your house checked. If the talmidim* are accustomed to wear a yarmulke* under their hat, he will do likewise.

All this will be done without ostentation, as if it were the counsel of his friends. I hope that you will be able to give me good news on this matter,

קבלתי מכתבו מט' טבת עם הפ"נ המצורפים בו,

9א ע"ד בנו... שי' שיש לו נטי' לגנבה ח"ו, צריך לפנות בזה לרופא במקצוע זה, כי זהו מעין חלישות, וישנם עתה אמצעי רפואה לזה, ומובן שלא להניח גם מזה לאמר בכל יום קאפיטל תהלים 0נוסף על הסדר) וגם ליתן קודם תפלת שחרית ומנחה א פרוטה או שלש לצדקה לזכות בנו ביחוד, וגם לבדוק את הציצית שבהט"ק של בנו שי' ושלא ילך בגילוי ראש , ולבדוק המזוזות בביתם, ואם נהוג בין התלמידים שהולכים במקיף תחת הכובע, צריך הוא להרגילו בזה בלי בליטה ושיבוא זה מהצעת חבריו, ואקוה שיוכל לבשר בשו"ט בזה...
