Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received the checks for Machne Yisroel that you left here before your departure, in order not to depart from your good habit.

Participation in the broad and varied activity of Machne Yisroel is an act of tzedakah*. Now, one who multiplies such acts is praiseworthy. Furthermore, you also have the merit of not diminishing the amount of your participation in tzedakah, in comparison to your habit. It is unnecessary to underscore the importance of such a practice.

I especially appreciate your good action, knowing the test that it must have constituted for you, in light of the way you view your present situation.

The stronger the test, the more one must master oneself in order to surmount it. Such a manner of acting is a great mitzvah*. It permits, moreover, refining and elevating one's own personality. This manner of rejecting evil is very dear to Hashem. It arouses immense channels conveying brachah* and success, both material and spiritual.
