To the rav*, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Shneur Zalman[1],

Greetings and blessings,

A) According to the information I have received from the rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Binyamin Gorodetski, you have already obtained a visa to settle in Morocco. I am sorry that this is taking so much time, when each day it is possible to accomplish, there, immense achievements.

You know that it is said: "Days were created, and through Him (Lo) the One Hashem enters into them" — Lo with a vav, and not with an aleph[2]. This means that the effort must be daily[3]. When a day passes without having received the contribution that should have been its own, there is in this an irreparable loss. For each subsequent day will have its own content and will therefore not be able to make up for that of the days gone by.

This is for what concerns you personally. As for your fellow Jew — the Jewish men and women of Morocco who could, during these days, receive a positive influence in the spiritual realm — they are not responsible for the present situation. They must in no way suffer from all the political stances, from the personal problems, of the one who could have had a good influence upon them, who could have brought them what they need.

My aim is not to make speeches, but to evoke concrete action. As you know, the Zohar affirms that hamaaseh hu ha'ikar — the deed is what matters most.

B) You evoke the loneliness that will be yours in Morocco. Know that there are there many Yidden*, and that Hashem multiplies them, that HaKadosh Baruch Hu* is present there, in His full Atzmus*. I hope that, in a short time, other chassidishe* families will settle there. It is, moreover, probable that your wife will be able to find work there. This activity will not occupy her whole day. When you are on the spot, you will be in a position to determine in what manner she can come to your aid in your work. Indeed, you wrote to me that she helped you in Marseille[4].

I hope to receive good news of your state of health, of that of your wife, of your material situation, and likewise of all that has just been said.

... כפי הידיעה שקבלתי מהרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ מוה"ר בנימין שי' גאראדעצקי, הנה כת"ר שי' כבר קיבל הרשיון לנסיעת מרוקה, ומצטער הנני שמתעכב הענין כ"כ, בה בשעה אשר בכל יום ויום יש לפעול שם גדולות ונצורות, והרי ידוע אשר ימים יוצרו ולו אחד בהם, לו בוואו ולא באל"ף, אשר הענין בזה הוא, שצ"ל בכל יום עבודה, וכל יום ההולך ואין משתמשים בו כדבעי, הרי זה אבידה שאינה חוזרת, כי בכל זמן וזמן מהימים הבאים אחריהם, צריך למלאות בתוכיות שלו, ואין מקום פנוי לתוכיות של ימים הקודמים. זהו בהנוגע לחשבון עצמו, ובנוגע לזולתו הנה בני ובנות ישראל אשר במרוקה שיכולים הם לקבל השפעת טובה ברוחניות במשך ימים אלו, הנה הם אינם אשמים כלל ואינם מחוייבים לסבול כלל וכלל מכל הפוליטיקעס בענינים הפרטים של זה שיכול הי' להשפיע להם או שיכולים היו להשפיע על ידו המצטרך להם, ולא לדרשא קאתינא כ"א בנוגע אל הפועל וכידוע מאמר הזהר עשי' לעילא.

ד) במ"ש בנוגע להגלמודיות (עלענדקייט) במרוקה, הנה גם שם נמצא מושב גדול של יהודים - כן ירבו - וגם שם נמצא הקב"ה בכבודו ובעצמו, ותקותי אשר במשך זמן לא רחוק, יבואו לשם עוד משפחות מאנ"ש שיחיו, ואפשר וקרוב הדבר שימצא שם עבודה גם בשביל זוגתו תחי', כמובן אשר לא על היום כולו, אבל כשיהי' כבר על אתר, אקוה שימצא אופן שגם היא תסייע בעבודה, וכמו שכתב לי אשר גם בהיותו במארסעל סייעה אותו היא בעבודתו הוא.

אקוה להתבשר ממנו בשו"ט מבריאותו הוא, ומבריאות זוגתו תחי' בגשמיות וגם בשו"ט בכל הנ"ל.
