Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1335 — Faith & Bitachon

Volume 5 · Letter 113

By the grace of Hashem,
8 Teves 5712,
Brooklyn,

Blessings and greetings[1],

I have received your letter, drafted at the conclusion of Shabbos Mikeitz, in which you describe to me what happened to you following an error in the newspaper concerning the time of candle-lighting[2].

You will distribute to tzedakah*, over the course of a few weeks, an amount of seven dollars and two cents[3]. It is preferable to do so on erev Shabbos*, before lighting the candles. You will also study the laws of Shabbos in the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch.

As far as I know, there exists an English translation of this Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Thus you will study it more easily. It would also be good if you drew a few other women to share this study with you.

Then you will forget all that has happened, and you will have the mezuzos* of your house checked once again.

Notes
(1) This letter is addressed to a woman.
(2) Of Shabbos, which this woman lit too late, owing to this error.
(3) The numerical value of the word Shabbos.
