To Yisroel Abba Pliskin[1],

I was glad to receive your letter[2], in which you describe to me the current situation of the yeshiva*[3] and the organization of your teaching. You ask me how much time the talmidim* should study Chassidus* each day.

Two points must be distinguished:

1. The study of Chassidus is indispensable.

2. That of beginners must not be too intensive, lest they distance themselves from the yeshiva. The aim is, on the contrary, to draw them close to it as much as possible.

Nevertheless — and only insofar as possible — Chassidus should be studied morning and evening, in particular on Shabbos and on Thursday night.

You write in your letter that I have surely received detailed news of the inauguration. In this matter what Chazal* say of "a pot belonging to several partners" was fulfilled — that is, each one relied on the other[4]. Your remark goes in this same direction.

In distributing among yourselves the tasks of the yeshiva, it would be good if one of you were more specifically charged with reporting here, in detail, on what is being accomplished. In this way, it is certain that one will have news of what is happening.

ישראל אבא פליסקין - מעלבורן

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו, בו מודיע ע"ד מצב הישיבה בהוה, וסדר לימודו עמהם, ובנוגע לשאלתו כמה זמן ביום תהי' להם הקביעות ללימוד דא"ח, הנה שתי נקודות בדבר: א) לימוד הדא"ח מוכרח הוא, ב) על המתחילים אין להעמיס בזה ביותר, כדי שלא ישתמטו לגמרי מהישיבה, אבל המטרה צ"ל להתקרב עד כמה שאפשר, אבל רק אם אפשר הוא, שיהי' לימוד דא"ח הן בבקר והן בערב ובפרט בש"ק ובליל חמישי.

מ"ש במכתבו אשר בטח נתקבל ידיעות מפורטות אודות חנוכת הבית, הנה נתקיים בזה מרז"ל קדירה דבי שותפי כו' שכל אחד סומך על חבירו, ומודיע ג"כ בנוסח הנ"ל ומהראוי הי' שבחלקם את כל מקצועי העבודה בהישיבה יהי' בזה גם ענין ההודעה לכאן בפרטיות מוטל על שכם אחד מהם ובמילא יהי' הדבר בטוח שיגיעו לכאן ידיעות מהנעשה וכו'.
