To the distinguished rav*, well-known scholar, filled with knowledge,
who orders his study and comments upon it, chassid*
who fears Hashem, who seeks the welfare of his people,
Rav I. A.[1] HaLevi shlita*, Chief Rabbi[2],

Greetings and blessings,

Travelers from there to here and from here to there[3] submit various problems to me, and one question in particular has been raised about the manner of traveling.

I would therefore like to ask you whether the situation has been improved[4], and on what basis you have permitted travel on an Israeli ship that also moves on Shabbos[5].

I thank you for replying to me promptly, since those who consult me must travel soon and are therefore awaiting this answer.

פונים אלי נוסעים מהתם להכא ומהכא להתם בענינים שונים, ומתעוררת שאלת אופן הנסיעה. ולזאת אבקש את כהדר"ג שליט"א להודיעני אם עשו איזה תיקון, וטעמו ונימוקו עמו, להתיר הנסיעה בספינה ישראלית שנוסעת גם בש"ק.
