Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter, in which you inform me of the state of health of your wife. May Hashem grant that her pregnancy go well, that the birth take place in its time and easily. She is surely conforming to the prescriptions of the doctors.

I propose to you[1] to recite each day, without making it publicly known, in the Krias Shema* before sleep — before the brachah* of HaMapil — Mizmor Lamenatzeach[2]. After reciting it, you will read once more the verse Ya'ancha[3], and in your thoughts you will ask Hashem to consider it as if you had borne in mind everything one is meant to meditate upon in such circumstances.

You will observe all this without making it a neder*, until after the birth in an auspicious and propitious hour. Likewise, you will have the mezuzos* of your house checked, and your wife will give tzedakah*, without making it a neder, to the fund of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess*[4], on erev Shabbos*, before lighting the candles.

במענה על הודעתו ממצב בריאות זוגתו תחי', הנה יהי רצון שיהי' ההריון כשורה והלידה בעתה ובזמנה ובנקל, ובטח ממלאה אחרי הוראת הרופאים.

והצעתי -אשר בלי פרסום בדבר - הנה יאמר בכל יום בק"ש שעל המטה קודם ברכת המפיל, את הקפיטל תהלים למנצח יענך, ובסיומו יחזור עוד הפעם את הפסוק יענך ויעלה במחשבתו אשר יהי רצון כאלו כיוון כל הכוונות הצריכות להיות בזה, וכל הנ"ל יעשה, בל"נ, עד אחרי הלידה בשעה טובה ומוצלחת, כן יבדוק את המזוזות אשר בדירתם, וזוגתו תחי' תתן צדקה לקופת רמבעה"ן - רבי מאיר בעל הנס - בכל ערב שבת קדש, קודם הדלקת נרות של שבת - בלי נדר -
