To our friend, remarkable young man,

Rav Menachem Zeev Gringlass,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your express letter of 3 Shevat and to the previous correspondence. Your express letter reached us only on 8 Shevat, no doubt because it was seized by the censors:

A) We have already sent you one hundred calendars in English. Please let me know as soon as possible how many additional copies you need, for the requests are numerous and I do not know if there will be a second edition.

B) The talks of 18 Elul and a collection of talks and discourses delivered in Chicago, in 5702, are being printed and we are making the corrections, as well as those of volumes 2 and 4 of Sifreinu*.

C) We will ask Rav I. J. [1] to write to you to answer the question you are asking regarding your trip [2].

D) We have received a letter from Rav Yosef Rodal and Rav M. E. Gerlitzki [3] regarding the Beth Rivkah* of Montreal. We have already responded to them.

E) We would like to have details about the educational activities you conducted in Teves*, as you mention in your letter. What were the outcomes? And what type of education were the traveling students able to receive?

F) I thank you for your intervention with Mr. Dolphin. The amount of his contribution matters little, so long as it is regular. We have not yet decided what we will print [4]. When the time comes, we will let you know.

G) We sent you the conversations with the youth of Teves* before receiving your letter. Regarding Hakriah Vehakedushah*, we have forwarded it to the office.

H) We were pleased to learn that the Mesibos Shabbos* have been expanded. We would like to have a more detailed report on this.

I) Mr. ... did not discuss with my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita*, the possibility of publishing a book [4]. Verify therefore what the situation is in your city and conclude the matter in the best way. Explain to him that one who increases his contribution is worthy of praise, that quantitative increase leads to qualitative improvement.

J) Regarding the testimonies of the Chassidim* [5], we have been discussing this for over a year and, despite my efforts, only one text has been sent to me and nothing more. You tell me, in your letter, that Rav Yosef Weinberg did not have time to attend to it. Imagine that someone else writes them and that you yourselves are the readers. How would you accept such a justification?

K) Write to me, on a separate sheet, which texts and which pamphlets published in Europe you wish to obtain, as well as the number of copies you want of each. I will pass the message to those who handle the shipments. When they are found, they will be sent to you.

L) We will write a letter of encouragement to Rav Kelman, of Toronto, as you asked us [6].

M) You tell me that you prefer to announce from the outset that you wish to come here several times a year. We know what the Midrash* says on this matter [7] and the Shulchan Aruch* retains the principle [8]. The discussion was about four weeks, according to your own proposal.

N) I am surprised that you have sent nothing, for a long time, to pay your debt, which is becoming increasingly significant.

O) As you requested, I am sending you a letter on the importance, according to the revealed teachings of the Torah*, of learning the Mishnah* by heart [9]. If those who read it or the readers have comments on this, please let me know.

P) Regarding the parentheses appearing in the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*, you should consult the first chapter of Shaar HaKollel*.

במענה על מכתבו המהיר מג' שבט והקודמים לו (מכתבו המהיר הגיע אלינו רק בח' שבט, בודאי משום ששהה אצל הצענזאר):

א) מאה לוחות אנגלים כבר נשלחו אליו, ובודאי יודיע בהקדם כמה לשלוח עוד כי רבו הדורשים וא"י אם נדפיסם עוה"פ.

ב) שיחת ח"י אלול ועוד קובץ מאמרים ושיחות (טשיעקאגא תש"ב) נמצאים בדפוס ועסוקים כעת בהגהותם, וכן ספרנו ח"ב וחלק ד'.

ג) נבקש את ידידנו הרי"ד שי' לכתב אליו מה שנשאל ע"ד נסיעתו.

ד) קבלנו מכתב מהר' יוסף שי' ראדאל והר' מ"א גרליצקי בענין "בית רבקה" במאנטרעאל, כבר ענינו להם.

ה) נתענין מהפעולות בחדש טבת בעניני החנוך כנזכר במכתבו, ותוצאותיהן, גם הידיעות ע"ד מצב החנוך, שרכשו התלמידים הנוסעים.

ו) תודה על השתדלותו לפני מר דאלפן שי', מה שישלם לפרקים לא איכפת לנו, ובלבד שיהי' הדבר בטוח. עדיין לא החלטנו מה להדפיס, ובעתו נודיענו.

ז) השמועסן מחדש טבת נשלחו כבר אליו לפני שהגיע מכתבו, ע"ד הקוה"ג הודענו למשרד.

ח) שמחנו לבשורתו ע"ד הרחבת ה"מסבות שבת" ומעונינים אנו לשמע ע"ד זה בפרטיות-יותר.

ט) מר... שי' לא דבר עם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א אדות הדפסת קונטרס, ולכן נא לברר הענין על אתר, להביאו לידי גמר טוב ולהסבירו הענין דכל המרבה ה"ז משובח, ואשר מריבוי בכמות אפשר להעשות ריבוי ועילוי באיכות.

יוד) בענין רשימת הזכרונות - הנה זה יותר משנה שמדברים עד"ז ואחרי כל ההשתדלות - שלחו רשימה אחת, וחסל. ומבאר במכתבו ש"לא הי' לו (להרר"י שי' וויינבערג) עד עכשיו פני לזה"!. יציירו בעצמם שאחר הוא הכותב והם הקוראים, איזה רושם היתה עושה עליהם הצטדקות כזו?

יא) יודיע בפתקא מיוחדת איזה שיחות וקונטרסים - מהיו"ל מעבר לים - דורש הוא וכמה מכאו"א, ואמסרה להממונים על השילוח. ואם במשך הזמן ימצאו יושלחו לו.

יב) להרב קעלמאן טאראנטא יכתבו מכ' התעוררות כהוראתו.

יג) במ"ש שטוב לומר עתה שרוצה הוא לבוא לכאן כמה פעמים במשך השנה, הנה ידוע מרז"ל בזה (יל"ש תהלים יט) דוד דומה כו' ונפסק להלכה בטור ושו"ע (אדמה"ז) ואו"ח סתקפ"ב ס"ח, ומה שאמרו ע"ד ד' שבועות הוא ע"פ עצתם גופא.

יד) תמי' רבה ביותר שזה זמן רב שלא נתקבל מאומה בסילוק החוב, והוא הולך וגדול.

טו) כבקשתו, מוסג"פ מכ' ע"ד משניות בע"פ ע"ד הנגלה לבד, ואם יש איזה הערות מענינים מהשומעים והקוראים בטח יודיע,

טז) מש"ש ע"ד המוסגרים דשו"ע דרבינו הזקן - יעוין בשער הכולל פרק א'.
