To the members of the shul* of nusach* Ari, Anshei Lubavitch, and first and foremost to its officers, in the city of Dorchester, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I hereby confirm receipt of your donation for the orphaned children of the Holy Land.

I was very gratified by this contribution, and even more so by the interest you displayed in the situation of these children in the Holy Land. Aid that comes from a Torah-observant community for children of the Holy Land constitutes a twofold success: its amount is a material success, and the fact that it comes from an observant community is a spiritual success.

For these funds will be given to the children of the Holy Land in order to be used in the spirit of Torah and mitzvos*, through which these children become bound still more deeply to their Father in Heaven.

My father-in-law, the Rebbe[1], emphasized many times that Hashem does not remain in debt. He repays "measure for measure," with interest exceeding the principal, as only He can do. He therefore comes to the aid of all those who give their donations to the orphans of our Holy Land and of those who collect for them. He grants them to derive much nachas* from their children, their grandchildren, and themselves.

On the approaching days of Chanukah*, when Hashem performed a great miracle and a small quantity of oil — sufficient for one night — burned for eight days, which was the time required to produce new pure oil, He will likewise grant that the darkness of golus* become luminous, through the merit of Torah and mitzvos that all Yidden* put into practice.

It will come about through one candle, then a second, then all the rest, until we attain the great light, very soon and in our days, through our righteous Moshiach*.
