Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter, and I learned with satisfaction that your pains have practically disappeared. I hope that you will feel still better.

You tell me that your daughter is bitter, because her children do not adopt a Jewish way of conduct.

Tell her that bitterness alone will change nothing. One must exert a positive influence upon them, with engaging gestures, good words, and repeated requests. One must not weary of speaking with them — a first, a second, a third time — until convincing them, first a little, then more and more.

You write to me that the son of your daughter is going to be married. It is essential to explain to his fiancée that she must adopt the conduct of a Jewish woman, in particular as regards taharas hamishpacha*, kashrus*, and Shabbos* observance. You will tell her that her happiness depends upon it, as does that of her fiancé and the children they will have.

When one has emunah* in Hashem, one can see with one's eyes of flesh that one receives all the good, material and spiritual.
