B'ezras Hashem,

To the Rav, Chassid* who fears Hashem,

devotes himself to the needs of the community,

distinguishes himself by his virtuous conduct,

Rav Yirmiyahu[1],

Greetings and blessings,

You have doubtless received my previous letter, to which were enclosed the brochure[2] and the kuntres*[3] published for Yud-Tes Kislev*.

Basing myself on the words of our Sages*, reported in the Sifra* at the beginning of Parshas Tzav, that one urges zerizus* only upon those who already possess this quality by nature, I would like to introduce a point in this letter that constitutes an addition. It is the following:

We can see with our own eyes the spiritual and Divine success that the Lubavitch Yeshivos have known, baruch Hashem*, since their founding fifty-five years ago — the numerical value of Hen, "behold," as it is said: "Behold, the fear of Hashem is wisdom"[4], as Maseches Shabbos* 31b explains.

The success of these Yeshivos founded by the Rebbe Rashab* and by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, continues to this day.

But at the present hour, the financial situation of the Lubavitch Yeshivos is worrying. The debts are considerable and they put in peril the perpetuity of this gigantic institution.

The Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to the needs of the community, Rav Yosef Halevi Weinberg[5], has left for your country[6], in order to conduct a collection on behalf of the Merkaz of the Lubavitch Yeshivos.

I address you, by these lines, to ask you urgently to intervene by every possible means, so that his visit may be a considerable success, that it may bring the help sought and desired, so that the Merkaz of the Yeshivos may pursue its work and form an upright generation, devoting itself to Torah and mitzvos* with pure faith, with refined conduct, in accordance with the teachings of Chassidus*.

This great merit will enable you to obtain — together with all those of yours and all those who come to your aid — abundance and considerable brachah*, in your communal and personal concerns alike.

מכתבי הקודם עם הקונטרס והחוברת לי"ט כסלו הבע"ל בטח כבר הגיעו.

ונשען על מרז"ל (ספרא ר"פ צו) אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין, באתי בהוספה במכתבי זה, ולא נצרכה אלא להעדפה, והוא:

עין בעין הננו רואים את ההצלחה הרוחנית האלקית השורה ת"ל על הישיבות תומכי תמימים ליובאוויטש מאז הווסדן, זה "ה"ן שנים מלפנים - (ה"ן, יחידה, הן יראת הוי' היא חכמה, ראה שבת לא, ב) על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר (מוהרש"ב) זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע וכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע - עד עתה.

כהיום מצב הכספי של מרכז הישיבות תת"ל קשה הוא החובות עלו למעלה, ומזעזעים הם את קיומו של המוסד הענקי הזה.

הרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ וכו' מוה"ר יוסף שי' הלוי ווינבערג יצא למדינתם לעשות המגבית בעד מרכז הישיבות תת"ל.

והנני פונה במכתבי זה לכ' שי' בבקשה כפולה להשתדל בכל ההשתדלות אשר ביקורו של הרה"ח מוהר"י שי' יהי' בהצלחה מופלגה, ויביא את העזר הדרוש והמקווה, בכדי לאפשר למרכז תת"ל להמשיך את עבודתו להעמיד דור ישרים יבורך עוסקים בתורה ובמצוות ביראת שמים טהורה, ובזיכוך המדות ע"פ תורת החסידות.

וגדול זכות זה להשפיע לו ולב"ב שיחיו ולכל העוזרים על ידו, שפעת חיים וברכה מרובה, בעניניהם הכללים והפרטים.
