Greetings and blessings,

I received with satisfaction your letter informing me that your meeting with Miss... had a positive outcome and that you are now engaged.

A) I therefore express to you, by these lines, my blessing that this engagement be in a good and propitious hour, with good mazal*, materially and spiritually together.

B) You tell me that you have not yet fixed a date for the wedding. You should therefore endeavor that it not be delayed. With suitable effort, you will surely be able to remove all obstacles. You know that our minhag* is to fix a wedding in Kislev or in Adar, whereas it is less common to do so in Teves and Shevat.

C) You also inform me that your sister has had a son in a good hour. I therefore express to him my blessing — a brachah* of mazal tov*. May his parents lead him to Torah, to the chuppah*, and to good deeds, with tranquility of body and mind.

D) You tell me that you have opened a business of... in partnership with... I am therefore enclosing a coin from the pushke* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. You will invest it in this enterprise.

For my father-in-law, the Rebbe, recalls the saying of our Sages* that "whoever receives a coin from Iyov is blessed"[1]. The same applies to this pushke*. A single coin suffices to bring material blessing and success in the most literal sense.

E) I would like to know what has become of your brother. You doubtless meet with him from time to time, and you surely strive to draw him ever closer to Torah and mitzvos*.

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו, בו מודיע אשר נגמר בכי טוב השידוך בינו ובין מרת... תחי' וכבר נעשה קנין דברים,

והנני בזה להביע ברכתי, שיהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ולמזל טוב בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

ב) ומ"ש שעדיין לא הוגבל זמן החתונה, הנה בטח לא ימשכו בזה ובהשתדלות הראוי' בודאי יוכל להסיר את כל הענינים המונעים וידוע מנהגנו הוא אשר עושים החתונה בחדש כסלו או באדר, ואין רגיל כ"כ לעשות חתונה בחדשי טבת ושבט.

ג) במענה על הודעתו אשר נולד בן למז"ט לאחותו תחי' מרת..., הנני בזה להביע ברכתי ברכת מזל טוב, ויגדלוהו הוריו שיחיו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך מנוחת הנפש ומנוחת הגוף.

ד) מ"ש שביחד עם... פתחו עסק של... הנני מסגיר פה מטבע מקופת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אשר ישקיעו זה במסחרם הנ"ל, וידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח על מרז"ל כל הנוטל פרוטה מאיוב מתברך, שזה ג"כ בנוגע לקופה הנ"ל, שאפי' פרוטה מביאה ברכה והצלחה ובגשמיות ממש.

ה) אתענין לדעת מהנעשה עם אחיו שי' אשר בטח מזמן לזמן רואים הם איש את אחיו, ומשתדל לקרבו יותר ויותר לתורה ומצות,
