Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of 27 Marcheshvan, in which you describe the state of health of your wife. The doctor following her has diagnosed several problems. From time to time she also suffers from her spleen. She is presently bedridden and endures considerable pain.

In my opinion, you should find a general practitioner. Even if he is not particularly renowned, he will at least have a comprehensive view. You should tell him everything that has been discovered by the doctors she previously consulted. Ask him to follow her, to prescribe a comprehensive treatment, and to determine what she should do, eat, and drink.

For our Sages* say that "healing comes through such-and-such a remedy, by such-and-such a person" — without any restriction connected to the greatness or the nature of that person[1]. It is virtually certain that only such a doctor will be able to heal her, and that your wife will recover through his intervention.

With my blessing that you give me the good news of an improvement in your wife's health,

קבלתי מכתבו מכ"ז מ"ח, בו מתאר מצב בריאות זוגתו תחי' אשר לפ"ד הרופא דעתה יש לה כמה וכמה ענינים ומזמן לזמן פריסטופען של המרה וכו' ועתה מוטלת במטה בכאבים שונים.

לדעתי כדאי הי' שימצא רופא כללי היינו אף שאינו גדול כ"כ, אבל שיהי' לו ידיעה בכל הענינים, ויספר לו את חוו"ד כל הרופאים שהיתה אצלם זוגתו תחי' עד עתה, ויבקשו שיתעסק בכ"ז ויתן לה סדר כללי בהנהגה ובאכילה ושתי' וכיון שארז"ל שהרפואה באה ע"י סם פלוני ואיש פלוני כו' בלי הגבלה ע"ד גדלו ומהותו, הרי קרוב להיות שדוקא רופא ממהות זה וועט איר צוטרעפען ועל ידו תבוא הרפואה לזוגתו תחי'.

בברכה שיודיע בשו"ט מהטבת בריאות זוגתו תחי'.
