Greetings and blessings,

In its time I received your letter in which you ask me for advice concerning the dreams that disturb your wife.

First of all, the mezuzos* of your home should be checked. You should also ask your wife whether, in the past, she did not show some lack of respect to a Jewish man or woman. If that was indeed the case, she should offer an apology in the presence of three Jews, pronouncing the following formula: "If I have shown disrespect to a Jewish man or woman, whether unintentionally or deliberately, I regret it with all my heart and I beg forgiveness."

It seems to me that I have already told you that before lighting the candles on the eve of Shabbos* or Yom Tov*, she should give tzedakah*, according to her means and without it being too difficult for her, to the pushke* of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess*. I am certain that with all of this she will improve, and little by little these dreams will disappear.

It would be good, before going to sleep and reciting the bedtime Shema*, that she read a few lines from the memoirs of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in Yiddish or in English, whichever is easier for her.

בעתו קבלתו מכתבו, בו שואל עצה בדבר החלומות המצערים את זוגתו שתחי':

הנה ראשית לכל צריך לבדוק את המזוזות בדירתם, וכן לשאול את זוגתו תחי', אם לא פגעה בכבוד בן או בת בישראל, בימים ההם, ואם הי' איזה פגיעה בכבוד בהנ"ל, אזי תבקש מחילה סתמית בפני שלשה מישראל, היינו שתאמר, שבאם פגמתי בכבוד בן ובת ישראל בשוגג או במזיד, הנני מתחרטת בלב שלם ומבקשת מחילה, וכמדומה לי שכבר אמרתי לו, שקודם הדלקת נרות בעש"ק ובעריו"ט תתן צדקה לצדקת רבי מאיר בעל הנס (רמבעה"ן) כפי יכולתה - שלא להכביד על עצמה ובטחוני אשר אחר כל הנ"ל יקל מעלי' ולאט לאט יסורו ממנ[ה] כל החלומות, ומהנכון שקודם השינה וקודם ק"ש שעל המטה תקרא איזה שורות בזכרונות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, אם באידיש או באנגלית מה שנקל לפני' יותר.
