To the rabbanim and leaders of the people of Israel, to the directors of schools and roshei yeshivah*, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

19 Kislev approaches, which shall be the Tuesday of the Parshah "I seek my brothers," with the commentary that the Zohar gives on it, vol. 1, page 184a. Twice was the word "good" said, on the Tuesday of Creation, and this date is, moreover, that of the hilula* of the Maggid of Mezeritch, great disciple and successor of the Baal Shem Tov*, whose waters we drink, whose light guides us.

This day is, moreover, that of the redemption of the Alter Rebbe* and of the victory of Chassidus*, the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov. It is said, indeed, that "the children of Israel were liberated, with a high hand"[1].

It is known that the Baal Shem Tov posed this question to Moshiach*[2]: "When will you come?" Our righteous Moshiach made him the following reply: "When your teaching shall be revealed, when it shall unveil itself in the world, and when your wellsprings shall spread to the outside."

For, it is in this manner that one introduces and prepares the coming of Moshiach.

In considering the sacred obligation and the great merit that fall upon every Jew, in particular upon a Rav, a communal leader, a school director, and, especially, upon someone who directs a Chassidic community, the mission of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus that have been bequeathed to us by our master, the Baal Shem Tov, then, by our master, the Maggid, and their successors, the leaders of the assembly of the Chassidim, I formulate the proposition that the luminous day of 19 Kislev, the Shabbos that precedes it, and that which follows it, be devoted to gatherings and farbrengens*, by all those who find themselves under the influence of their teachings.

During these gatherings, one shall decide, in particular, to spread the wellsprings outward, those of the Baal Shem Tov, of his disciples, of the disciples of his disciples, and, more generally, to fix a time to study Torah, to observe mitzvos* in the best manner, to love one's fellow, and to refine one's sentiments, in conformity with the teachings of Chassidus.

The merit of our masters, leaders of Israel, shall protect us all and shall permit us to know success in the mission that is entrusted to us here below.

And may our eyes witness[3] the coming of our righteous Moshiach, very soon and in our days, very soon, Amen.

קרוב יום התשעה עשר בכסלו, יום ג' (לסדר את אחי אנכי מבקש. זח"א קפ"ד, א) שהוכפל בו כי טוב, הוא יום ההילולא רבא של אדמו"ר הרב המגיד ממעזריטש - תלמידו הגדול וממלא מקומו של אדמו"ר הבעש"ט, אשר את מימיהם אנו שותים ולאורם אנו הולכים.

הוא יום גאולת אדמו"ר הזקן ונצחון תורת החסידות - תורת הבעש"ט - אשר בני ישראל יצאו ביד רמה.

ידועה שאלת הבעש"ט למשיח: אימתי אתי מר ותשובת משיח צדקנו: בעת

שיתפרסם למודך ויתגלה בעולם ויפוצו מעינותיך חוצה .

כי זהו הקדמה והכנה לביאת המשיח.

מתוך תשומת לב לחוב הקדוש המוטל על כל ישראל וביחוד על רבני ומנהיגי ישראל ועל ראשי בתי אולפני בכלל, ועל מנהיגי עדת החסידים בפרט, וזכות הגדולה שלהם להפיץ מעינות החסידות, כפי אשר הנחילו אותם לנו מורנו הבעש"ט ואחריו מורנו הרב המגיד ותלמידיהם נשיאי עדת החסידים.

הנני להציע בזה, אשר ביום הבהיר הזה הוא יום י"ט כסלו הבע"ל, ובשבתות שלפניו ושלאחריו - יסדרו מסבות והתועדיות של כל אלה אשר השפעתם עליהם, אשר בהתועדיות אלו יתעוררו בפרט לעבודה בהפצת המעינות - מעינות תורת הבעש"ט, תלמידיו ותלמידי תלמידיו - חוצה, ובכלל לקביעות עתים לתורה, שמירת המצוות בהידור, ואהבת רעים וזיכוך המדות ע"פ תורת החסידות.

וזכות נשיאינו, נשיאי ישראל, יגן עלינו כולנו, להצליח במילוי שליחותינו בעלמא דין.

ועינינו תחזינה בביאת משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו, בעגלא דידן, אמן.
