To all our brethren, the children of Israel, who cherish Torah and mitzvos*, may Hashem grant you long life[1],

Greetings and blessings,

We observe with our own eyes the spiritual and divine success that is, baruch Hashem, that of the Lubavitch yeshivos, since their foundation, fifty-five years ago, by the Rebbe Rashab*[2] and by my father-in-law, the Rebbe[3]. This continues still, at present.

Thanks to Hashem, the Lubavitch yeshivos have been capable of forming thousands of talmidim*, possessing a profound knowledge of Torah, filled with yiras Shamayim*. A large portion of them have been and still are rabbanim, school directors, roshei yeshivah*, shochtim*. They occupy these functions in numerous Jewish communities, of first importance.

The quasi-totality of the talmidim of the Lubavitch yeshivah and of those who have received their training there are in the front rank of the action and the accomplishments, for all that concerns the diffusion of Torah and yiras Shamayim, the strengthening of all that pertains to Judaism, in each place where they reside.

Despite this spiritual success, the material situation of the central Lubavitch yeshivos is, at the present time, critical and worrisome. The debts have reached a considerable level, and they put back into question the stability of this immense institution.

On Sunday of Parshas Va'eira, "I revealed Myself to the Patriarchs," the twenty-second day of the month of Teves 5712, there shall take place, im yirtzeh Hashem*, the annual banquet for the benefit of the central Lubavitch yeshivos. This must be the occasion of important receipts, in order to repay the existing debts and to permit the maintenance of these institutions.

I address myself, by the present, to all those who cherish Torah and mitzvos. I launch an appeal to them which I reiterate, a second and a third time, that one take part in the preparations for this annual banquet, that one participate in it, that one come in great number, and that one contribute, generously and with largesse, to the maintenance of the central Lubavitch yeshivos. One shall thus give it the possibility to pursue its sacred work and to form an upright and blessed generation, devoting itself to Torah and mitzvos, with a pure yiras Shamayim, sentiments refined by the teaching of Chassidus*.

I express the wish that, very soon, we witness the realization of the following brachah* granted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, in the last letter that he addressed to the participants in the banquet of the Lubavitch yeshivos:

"May Hashem strengthen the health of all of you, may He grant all of you material opulence, in abundance. Thus, all together, we shall merit, very soon and in our days, to witness the elevation of the horn of the Torah and of the Tradition of Israel, as well as the geulah*, which is imminent, by our righteous Moshiach*. He shall lead us, with our heads held high, toward our Holy Land, very soon and in our days, Amen."

עין בעין הננו רואים את ההצלחה הרוחנית האלקית השורה, ת"ל, על הישיבות "תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש, מאז הווסדן, זה ה"ן שנים מלפנים, על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר (מהורש"ב) זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע וכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע - ועד עתה.

הישיבות "תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש" הצליחו להעמיד, בעזר השי"ת, אלפי תלמידים, כן ירבו, מופלגי תורה ויראה. חלק גדול מהם כיהנו ומכהנים פאר בתור רבנים, ראשי מתיבתות וראשי ישיבות, שובי"ם וכיו"ב משרות קדש בתוככי קהלות חשובת בישראל, ורוב התלמידים ומחונכי הישיבות תת"ל ככולם עומדים בשורה ראשונה של עבודה ופועל טוב בשדה הרבצת תורה ויראת שמים וחיזוק עניני היהדות בכל מקומות מושבותיהם.

אמנם למרות ההצלחה הרוחנית, הנה המצב החמרי של מרכז הישיבות " תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש" בעת הזאת קשה וחמור במאד. החובות עלו למעלה ראש ומזעזעים הם את קיומו של המוסד הענקי הק' הלזה."

ביום ראשון לפרשת וארא אל האבות, עשרים ושנים בחדש טבת תשי"ב הבע"ל תתקיים, אי"ה, החגיגה השנתית של מרכז הישיבות "תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש", אשר צריכה לשמש מקור הכנסה חשובה בכדי להסיר את עול החובות מהעבר, ולאפשר קיומן של הישיבות הק' על להבא.

ובזה הנני פונה לכל חובבי ומוקירי תורה ומצוה בקריאה ובקשה, בקשה כפולה ומשולשת, לסייע ולהשתתף בהפעולות להכנת חגיגה שנתית זו, לבוא בהמונים להחגיגה ולהתנדב בעין יפה וביד פתוחה לטובת "מרכז הישיבות - תומכי תמימים-ליובאוויטש", ולתת לו עי"ז את האפשריות להמשיך את עבודתו הק' להעמיד דור ישרים יבורך עוסקים בתורה ובמצות, ביראת שמים טהורה, ובזיכוך המדות על פי תורת החסידות.

ואני תפלה, אשר, במהרה, ממש, נזכה כולנו לקיום ברכת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע במכתבו האחרון להמשתתפים בחגיגת הישיבות "תומכי תמימים - ליובאוויטש", והיא:

יחזק השי"ת את בריאות כולכם ויתן לכולכם פרנסה טובה בהרחבה ונזכה כולנו וב"ב יחיו בהרמת קרן התורה וקרן ישראל סבא ולגאולה קרובה על ידי משיח צדקנו ויוליכנו קוממיות לארצנו הקדושה, במהרה בימינו, אמן.
