Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter, written at the conclusion of Shabbos Vayeira, by which you tell me that you are being asked to go to the consulate to withdraw your visa there. Your trip should take place just after this, and you ask me how you should proceed.

I do not understand why the Chassidim residing in France are suddenly so hurried to leave this country and to seek new conditions, under other skies. Especially as they have the experience of these countries where it is not easy to settle. I have already said that one should consider the timeliness of settling in Morocco, which is close to France. Wide possibilities offer themselves, in this place, to many Chassidim, in particular those who are capable of exercising functions in the pedagogical domain. Moreover, there is still much to do, in France, in general, and in Paris, in particular, for all that concerns education and the strengthening of Judaism.

For your personal case, you have already formulated a request and received a reply from all the institutions. You are therefore being asked to go to the consulate, and, if there is no other way out, you shall therefore do so. May Hashem lead you toward your true destination, that is to say, toward His Will, and may you settle yourself in the appropriate manner, materially and spiritually.

במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק וירא. בו מודיע אשר תובעים ממנו שילך להקאנסול לקבל הוויזה, ואשר הנסיעה תהי' ג"כ מיד, ומבקש להשיבו איך לעשות בזה:

הנה בכלל אינני מבין מהי הבהלה שנתהווה עתה בין אנ"ש שיחיו בצרפת, להעתיק משם, ולילך לחפש חדשות במדינות אחרות, ובפרט שהן יודעים כבר ממצב המדינות שאין ההסתדרות בשם בנקל, וכבר גליתי דעתי מאז, שצריכים היו להתענין בהעתקה למדינת מאראקא שהיא בסמיכות לצרפת, ויש שם כר נרחב לכמה מסוגי אנ"ש ובפרט לאותם המסוגלים לעבודה בשדה החינוך, נוסף על העבודה שישנה עדיין בצרפת בכלל ובפרט בפאריז בשדה החינוך והחזקת היהדות.

ובנוגע אליו בפרט, הרי כיון שהגיש הניירות וכבר קיבל הניירות מכל המוסדות, ודוחקים אותו שילך להקאנסול, הרי אם אי אפשר לו להמשיך את הדבר, ילך ויקבל, והשי"ת ינחנו למחוז חפצו האמיתי הוא חפץ ה' ויסתדרו באופן המתאים לפניהם בגשמיות וברוחניות.
