To the Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Michoel[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letters in their time, and, since then, you have surely yourself received the kuntreisim*, with the letters that were enclosed therewith.

A) The month of Kislev approaches, and it is therefore necessary to engage all the necessary preparations to make good use of the festival days and of the farbrengens* of 19 Kislev, of 10 Kislev, of Chanukah, in the manner that suits best and with the diffusion that is necessary[2].

B) The translation of a brochure on 19 Kislev into Hebrew shall doubtless be completed here, these days[3]. We shall then send you a copy, which you shall be able to reproduce on the spot and send to the appropriate places. But, of course, this is not sufficient. Preparations are also necessary for the most distant places, where you must find persons susceptible of speaking about this festival.

It would be necessary to organize all this with Rav Sh. Matusof[4]. Each of you shall transmit to his acquaintances and to his talmidim* the content of the words they should hold forth, and especially the concrete actions one should expect from this — the enrollment of new pupils in the Oholei Yosef Yitzchak schools and the strengthening of observance.

C) A series of seforim* of the Sdei Chemed has been sent to Rav Toledano[5], as a gift, to thank him for his participation in our institutions. You shall confirm to me that he has received it. I hope that, thanks to this, his help shall be still increased.

D) Concerning the appearances in the newspapers, you ask me to find here someone who could translate into French. This is particularly difficult. It is necessary therefore to discover a specialist, on the spot. Even if an expense results from this, such a step is justified.

You shall be able to send the translations here, before their publication, so that they be verified. Moreover, if this translator is himself linked to the newspaper, he shall be interested in publishing in it what he has himself written.

I emphasize all this now because it would be good for there to be at least one article in the newspapers, regarding 19 Kislev.

E) You surely remember the seforim[6], in particular those of the company Doveivei Siftei Yesheinim[7], and the very many seforim that have just been printed in Djerba[8], whether of Kabbalah or other parts of the Torah. One advises haste only to those who naturally possess this quality[9].

You have surely fixed the organization of Shabbos Mevorchim*. Little by little, it shall be necessary to extend it to all the places in which you exert your influence. Of course, you shall mention the name of him who is at the origin of this institution[10], that is to say, my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

The Shabbos Mevorchim of the month of Teves is particularly opportune for all this, since it is between 19 Kislev and Chanukah. Now, 19 Kislev is the Rosh Hashanah of the luminary of Chassidus*, which is its profound teaching, and the miracle of Chanukah occurred with oil, which alludes to the "secrets of the secrets" of the Torah. This oil, moreover, was in a flask, marked with the seal of the Kohen Gadol*, the holiest man of all Israel, the Rebbe of his generation.

... בקשר עם חדש כסלו הבע"ל, כדאי לעשות את ההכנות הדרושות בשביל לנצל את ימי החגים וההתועדות די"ט כסלו, ויו"ד כסלו, וימי חנוכה באופן המתאים ובפרסום הראוי.

ד) אפשר אשר ימים אלו תוגמר פה העתקת חוברת י"ט כסלו ללשון הקדש, ואז יושלח לו טופס אחד ע"מ להדפיסו על אתר ולשלחו למקומות הדרושים אבל כמובן אין זה מספיק, כי צריכה להיות הכנה גם במקומות הרחוקים על ידי שימצא אנשים המתאימים לדרוש ע"ד פרשת החג, וצריך הי לסדר זה עם מוהר"ש שי' מטוסאוו, שיודיע איש איש [ל]מכריו ולהמושפעים שלו ע"ד הנ"ל בהוראות כלליות ע"ד מה לדבר והעיקר ע"ד פעולות ממשיות שאפשר לדרוש מהם, הן בריכוש תלמידים עבור "אהלי יוסף יצחק" והן בשביל חיזוק.

ה) נשלח להרב טלידני שי' סעט של שדי חמד בתור תשורה בשביל השתתפותו בהמוסדות שלנו, וכשיקבל בטח יודע מזה ותקותי שיהי' עי"ז ג"כ סיוע לתוספת אומץ מצדו בעבודתנו.

ו) במ"ש בענין הדפסה במכ"ע שלהם שימצאו כאן מי שיעתיק לצרפתית, הנה קשה למצוא זה בכאן ביותר, ומהראוי שימצא על אתר מומחה לזה, אף אם נצרך לזה איזה הוצאה ע"ד הרגיל כדאי לעשות את זה, ויכול לשלוח לכאן העתקה קודם שיודפס, ובמילא יוכלו לבחון את ההעתקה גם כאן. מובן הדבר שבאם ימצא מעתיק שיש לו שייכות אל העתון הרי אז המעתיק עצמו יהי' מעונין שידפיסו בהעתון את מאמרו, ומעורר הנני עד"ז ביחוד עתה, כי כדאי שיהי' עכ"פ מאמר אחד בעתונים ג"כ ע"ד י"ט כסלו הבע"ל.

ז) בטח זוכר ע"ד ענין הספרים ובפרט אלו של חברה דובבי שפתי ישנים וגם ספרים רבים למאד אשר נדפסו בעיר ג'רבה (בקבלה וגם בשאר מקצועות התורה), ואין מזרזין אלא למזורזין.

... בטח סידר ג"כ את סדר דש"מ החדש, וצריך לאט לאט לפרסם סדר זה ג"כ באותן המקומות שיש שלו השפעה שם, כמובן בהזכרת שם מייסד תקנה זו הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, וש"מ חדש טבת הוא יום המוכשר לזה כיון שזהו בין י"ט כסלו לחנוכה, אשר י"ט כסלו הוא ר"ה למאור החסידות היא פנימית התורה, ונס חנוכה הי' ג"כ בשמן שזהו רזין דרזין דאורייתא ונמצא בפך שהי' חתום בחותמו של כהן גדול המקודש בישראל, דער רבי פון דעם דור.
