B'ezras Hashem,
3 Marcheshvan 5712,
Brooklyn,
Greetings and blessings,
I received your letter of last Wednesday and, according to your "good" habit, you conclude it by soliciting a brachah* of success. But, it seems that, as soon as you crossed the border of Canada, dark thoughts again invaded you.
I have already told you several times that you yourself and your wife must definitively free yourselves from this melancholy and, if there is no other means of arriving at it, transform it into ardor for study, in conformity with the explanation of the Torah Or.
Such a step is positive, since it preserves health, frees one from material worries. It is also of good spiritual benefit, insofar as it reinforces the study of Torah.
I await good news of the state of health of your wife, of the fact that, as you have committed yourselves, at least through submission, you serve Hashem with joy.
With my brachah,
