B'ezras Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of 13 Elul, with the request for a brachah* that accompanied it and which I read, on the luminous day of Chai Elul*, by the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

You write to me that you are worried because of your state of health. There is no reason whatsoever to worry. You have surely read, in the memoirs[1], what the father of the Alter Rebbe* used to do, in the gardens and the fields[2]. And who among us knows the secret of the manner in which he must transform the matter of the world, how and in what manner to put into practice the Will of Hashem? We must rely upon our Father in Heaven. He shall lead us upon the path that is, for us, the best, that of a visible and tangible good, materially and spiritually.

I took note with satisfaction of your efforts to maintain ... in Jewish observance, and I mentioned their name by the tziyun of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. Thus, I hope that it will be easier to convince them.

Our Sages give the assurance, in Tractate Temurah 15a, that "the rich and the poor meet. Hashem makes the eyes of both shine." In the present case, you exert your influence on these persons in the domain of Torah and mitzvos*. Hashem will therefore make your own eyes shine and He will grant you success in the study of nigleh* of the Torah, of Chassidus*, and in your other concerns.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing, I address my brachah to you, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually.

With my brachah for success in your studies and in your other concerns,

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מי"ג אלול עם הפ"נ, אשר קראתיו ביום הבהיר ח"י אלול על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ומה שכותב במכתבו שמצטער הוא בענין בריאותו, אין לו ממה להצטער כלל וכלל, ובטח קרא בהזכרונות בארוכה ע"ד עבודת כ"ק אביו של אדמו"ר הזקן בגן ובשדה, ואין אתנו יודע בסוד הבירורים ובאיך ובאיזה ענין ואופן עלינו להשלים את הכוונה העליונה, ועל אבינו שבשמים נשען אשר ינחנו בדרך הטובה לטוב לנו בטוב הנראה ונגלה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

נהניתי לקרות במכתבו מהשתדלותו בהחזקת היהדות של... וגם את שמותיהם הזכרתי על הציון של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ואקוה אשר תקל עליו עתה ההשתדלות עמהם; וכהבטחת רז"ל (תמורה ט"ו ע"א) עשיר ורש נפגשו מאיר עיני שניהם כו' הרי כיון שמשפיע עליהם וכיו"ב ביהדות ותורה ומצות, הנה יאיר גם עיניו ה' להצליח לו בלימוד הנגלה והחסידות ובשאר עניניו.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
