Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of 4 Elul, and I read in it with satisfaction that you are pursuing your activity among observant Jews in general, and Chabad Chassidim in particular, regarding everything that touches upon the yeshivah*. Not only will your business in no way be affected by it, but, even more, you shall thereby forge the receptacles that will enable you to broaden your material prosperity, which Hashem will henceforth grant you from His full, open, holy, and broad hand.

You no doubt heard the expression that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, repeated unceasingly: "Whoever lends his help to ensure the good chinuch* of Jewish children, of whom it is said: 'You are sons to Hashem your Almighty,' will receive from Hashem, middah k'neged middah*, true and Yiddishe nachas* from his children." It is clear that this will indeed be your case. You and your wife will surely conceive much Yiddishe nachas from your daughter.

On Chai Elul*, the birthday of our master, the Baal Shem Tov*, and of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, while I was by the tziyun* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, I mentioned your name and that of the members of your family, for the satisfaction of the needs of each of you. Undoubtedly, my father-in-law will invoke divine mercy, so that you receive brachah* and success.

I was pleased to make the acquaintance of your daughter, who visited me on her way to London. She made a good impression upon me, and I am all the more convinced of it, as I wrote to you, that she will procure for you much Yiddishe nachas.

As for the worry that your non-Jewish associate causes you, you must, in my view, ask yourself whether you have not caused harm to Jews, inadvertently and unintentionally, in your business or because of it. If you rectify this, you will be delivered from the worry of this non-Jew.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing, I address my brachah to you, both materially and spiritually, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, as well as all the members of your family.
