To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem, great scholar and mighty pillar of Torah, whose name is shalom* and whose teaching is peaceful, Rav Shalom[1], one of the rabbanim* of Casablanca,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of this month of Elul. I thank you for your brachah* and address to you, in turn, my own, on the occasion of the new year, which approaches, for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing. I therefore address my brachah to you yourself and to the members of your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, both materially and spiritually.

P.S.: I thank you for the seforim* that you sent me, as you say in your letter. As you requested of me, I have sent you, in a separate package, a Tanya*, a Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*, a Sefer HaMa'amarim* of summer 5700[2] of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. May Hashem grant that we continue to send and to receive sifrei kodesh*, and even more, to multiply the shipments, for the greatness and beauty of Torah.

You will find enclosed the kuntres*[3] published for Chai Elul* and the letter that accompanies it. The luminary of the Torah, that is, its deep teaching, expressed therein, will surely interest you.
