To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem, Rav B. G.[1],

Greetings and blessings,

You will find enclosed a letter from the great Rav Refoel Boruch Toledano, of Meknes[2]. He describes the destruction and the chase after souls being conducted, in his city, by those who have departed from Jewish practice. They lead the Jews to ascend to the Holy Land by transiting through France. He therefore implores that a place of refuge be created there for the hundreds of children who must receive a good chinuch*. He assures that he is ready to lend his support, by every possible means.

You will kindly tell me what you discussed with him and what your opinion is on this question.

מוסג"פ מכתב מהרה"ג וכו' רפאל ברוך טולידנו ממקנאס, שבו מתחנן אשר לרגלי ההירוס שעושים החפשים במחנם וציד הנשמות וכו' במצודת העלי' לאה"ק ת"ו, אשר מקום המעבר הוא בצרפת, ולכן מבקש שנפתח מקום מקלט שם למאות ילדים שיתחנכו שם על טהרת הקדש, ומבטיח אשר מצדם מוכנים לעזור בכל האפשר וכו'.

ומטובו להודיעני מה דיבר כת"ר שי' אתו ומה דעתו בהנ"ל...
