To the directors of the Yeshivah for Russian immigrants, in Lod,

Greetings and blessings,

A) You have informed me of your intention to celebrate, on Chai Elul*, the opening of the new buildings, and you ask me to write you a letter on this subject. It is difficult for me to compose it in a few moments, and I shall therefore send you a telegram for this celebration, bli neder*.

It is a pity that you have not communicated to me any details. Will it be a national gathering? Will representatives of other communities be present?

B) You have surely received my letter for the beginning of the school year[1] and the excerpt[2] of the sicha* of Shabbos Mevarchim[3] Elul. You will find enclosed the translation of this excerpt into Hebrew[4]. It would be good to disseminate it, in the appropriate manner, in the broadest circles.

C) You propose to send emissaries from your yeshivah* to various places. You say that you are limited in the number of countries to which they can travel. My intention[5] was not to exclude any destination. Nevertheless, it seems to me more efficient that there be coordination among the Lubavitch institutions to send these emissaries, and one of two things — either you will organize a unified collection, or you will harmonize the trips, so that one institution does not cause harm to another.

D) I would like to draw your attention to the necessity of training the most capable, among the immigrants from Yemen, so that they may rapidly become the educators and the teachers of their brethren, the other immigrants coming from that country. It is no doubt unnecessary to specify the immense importance of this activity and the great usefulness one can expect from it.

שלום וברכה!

א. במענה על הודעתם שמתכוננים לערוך בח"י אלול הבע"ל חגיגה בקשר עם פתיחת הבנינים, ומבקשים מכתב ממני, הנה כיון שאין הדבר "בכדי שיעשו" לכתוב מכתב אשלח בל"נ טלגרמה לחגיגתם, וחבל אשר לא הודיעו פרטים בזה, אם יהי' זה כינוס ארצי ואם ישתתפו בזה ג"כ באי כח מחוגים אחרים.

ב. בטח קבלו מכתבי להתחלת זמן הלימודים, וכן גם הקטע משיחת שבת מברכים ר"ח אלול. ומוסג"פ העתק קטע זה גם בלה"ק, וכדאי לפרסמם באופן המתאים בחוגים היותר רחבים.

ג. בנוגע לשאלתם בענין הנסיעות למקומות שונים של משולחים מטעם ישיבתם, וכותבים שמוגבלים בזה באיזה מדינות, הנה לא היתה כוונתי לשלול הנסיעה לאיזה מדינה שהיא, ורק, שלפי דעתי, שלתועלת הדבר הוא שיתדברו מוסדות אנ"ש השולחים משולחים - ביניהם, ואחת משתי אלו: או שיעשו מגבית משותפת, או שיסדרו זמני הנסיעה באופן כזה שלא יהי' סתירה ממוסד אחד לחברו.

ד. אעורר תשומת לבבם לחנך את הראויים בזה מתלמידי ישיבתם מבין עולי תימן באופן שיוכלו להיות בזמן קצר למחנכים ומדריכים בין אחיהם עולי תימן. ומובן אשר האריכות ע"ד גודל הנחיצות בזה וגודל התועלת שיש לקוות מהם, הוא אך למותר.
