upon whom Hashem should bestow long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I read with pleasure the report of the committee meeting that took place on 18 Menachem Av. I was pleased to note that you had begun to act and that, little by little, you are putting into practice that which was discussed when you were here.

More precisely, there was discussion, during your meeting, of the deficit of the yeshivah*. When we spoke about it here, I already told you that you have managed, until now, with thrift, that is, by setting expenses according to revenues. It would be good for you to now adopt the inverse principle, that is, to increase the revenues to the measure of the necessary expenses.

You know the saying of the Rebbe Maharash*[1] that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, transmitted in the name of his father: "It is generally considered that one must go under the obstacle and, if that proves impossible, over it. I, for my part, think that one must from the outset go over it," and with the appropriate determination.

You say, in your report, that you have decided to increase the number of your talmidim* and that you have addressed yourselves, for this, to the directors of HIAS*[2] in your city, who will direct the children of refugees toward your yeshivah. Do not, however, content yourselves with that. Act yourselves in this direction, without relying solely on the initiative of HIAS.

With my brachah* for considerable success in your educational work, with the brachah of Hashem that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, aroused and continues to arouse for you, and which will bring to each of you success in his personal concerns, I conclude by wishing you to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year,

בנועם קראתי את הפרטי-כל מאסיפת הועד שהיתה בח"י מנ"א, ושמחתי אשר כבר התחילו בעבודה בפועל, וכן אשר לאט לאט מגשימים בחיים את הענינים אשר דיברו בהיותם כאן.

ובנוגע להפרטים, הנה במה שדברו באסיפתם על דבר הדפיציט של הישיבה, כבר אמרתי להם בשיחתנו פה, אשר עד עתה ניסו באופן של צמצום, היינו לכוון את ההוצאה על פי ההכנסה, ומהראוי שעתה ינסו באופן ההפכי, היינו להשתדל בהגדלת ההכנסה כפי ההוצאה שצריכה להיות. ובפרט על פי פתגם כ"ק אדמו"ר מהר"ש שמסר כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בשם כ"ק אדמו"ר אביו: די וועלט זאגט, אז מ'קאן ניט ארונטער דארף מען אריבער, און איך זאג, אז מ'דארף לכתחילה אריבער בתוקף המתאים.

מה שכותבים בהפרטי-כל על דבר רכישת תלמידים חדשים שהתדברו בזה עם מנהלי הייאס דמחנם שהם ישלחו את בני הפליטים לישיבתם, הנה בודאי לא יסמכו על זה לחוד, אלא גם מצדם ישגיחו על זה מבלי לחכות לה[א]תערותא דלעילא של מנהלי הייאס...

בברכת הצלחה מופלגה בעבודתם בקדש בשדה החינוך הכשר, וברכת השי"ת אשר המשיך וממשיך עליהם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר תחול על כאו"א מהם להשפיע להם ברכה והצלחה גם בעניניהם הפרטיים,
