B'ezras Hashem,

To the Chassidim who fear Hashem and devote themselves to communal needs,

the directors of Yeshivas Achei Temimim Lubavitch of Dorchester-Boston,

upon whom Hashem should bestow long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with great pleasure your letter, by which you inform me that you will celebrate, next week, the inauguration of your premises[1] and, at the same time, the beginning of the new school year.

I wish to express my brachah* to all those who will participate in it, the directors, the rectors, the teachers, all those who have lent their support and continue to do so, materially and spiritually. May Hashem satisfy all their needs, personal and collective.

My father-in-law, the Rebbe, basing himself on the affirmation of our Sages that Hashem "acts middah k'neged middah*," often said that all those who labor to bring Jews, children of Hashem, closer to their Father in Heaven, are rewarded in a particularly broad manner. Hashem grants them immense Yiddishe nachas* from their children, the members of their family, and themselves.

One can give, regarding an inauguration, the following explanation. A man dwells, in his house, with all that belongs to him. His dwelling must possess all the necessary characteristics, exterior and interior, to protect the one who dwells in it from anything that could cause him harm.

It is even more clearly thus regarding a yeshivah*. The latter, especially when it belongs to the Lubavitch movement, does not have for its sole goal to ensure the formation of its talmidim*[2]. It must, in addition, make of them whole Jews, from every point of view, protect them from all the winds that have always blown in the world and are, in our days, much stronger and harsher, contributing to tearing Jewish children from their roots, that is, from Torah and mitzvos*, which connect them to Hashem.

Basing myself on the brachos that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, granted to Yeshivas Achei Temimim Lubavitch of Dorchester-Boston, I am sure that the latter will take the path that has just been defined, will educate its talmidim so that they be conscious Jews, when they find themselves at home or walk in the street, are at the yeshivah or outside of it.

I also wish to add my brachah that Hashem multiply the number of these talmidim, that you may rapidly observe the insufficiency of your premises, the necessity of having a building larger than this one.

I conclude by expressing my brachah that all those who work for this institution, as well as its friends, be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually at once.

בשמחה רבה קבלתי מכתבם ,שבשבוע הבא מתכוננים לחגוג את

חנוכת הבית ,בו זמנית עם תחילת זמן הלימוד בישיבה.

הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לכל חברי ההנהלה וכן לראשי הישיבה ומורים

כמו גם לכל אלו שסייעו ומסייעים בגשמיות וברוחניות ,שהשם יתברך יתן

להם אושר בכל עניניהם הפרטיים והכלליים.

ידוע הפתגם של כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ זי״ע שהי׳

אומר לעיתים קרובות ,על יסוד מרז״ל שהקב״ה נותן שכר מדה כנגד מדה,

במילא כל אלו שעובדים לקרב יהודים לאבינו שבשמים ,שכל ישראל

נקראים בניו ,נותן להם הקב״ה כמה פעמים ככה ,שיהי׳ להם הרבה נחת

יהודי מילדיהם ,מבני ביתם ומעצמם.

ענין חנוכת הבית הוא ,שבבית נמצא האדם עם כל החפצים שלו וכל

התכונות שלו ש]כן[ הבית מקיף הן את החיצוניות והן את הפנימיות ,והבית

צריך להגן עליו מדברים שונים שיכולים ח״ו לגרום לו נזק .במדה רבה עוד

יותר נכון הדבר בנוגע לישיבה ,שישיבה בודאי ובפרט ישיבת ליובאוויטש,

אינה רק כדי ללמד את התלמידים ואת התלמידות לימוד מסויים ,אלא

בעיקר לגדל אותם ]שיהיו[ ליהודים שלמים בכל הענינים שלהם ,וגם להגן

עליהם מרוחות שונות הנושבות כל פעם בעולם ,וכיום בתוספת חוזק וסער,

ורוצות לנתק -היל״ת ~ ילדים יהודים ממקורם ,שזהו תורה ומצוות

המקשרים אותנו עם הקב״ה.

בטוחני ,על יסוד הברכות שכ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה נבג״מ

זי״ע בירך את הישיבה אחי תמימים ליובאוויטש בדרוצ׳סטר־בוסטון,

שהיא תלך בדרך הנ״ל ,לגדל תלמידים ותלמידות להיות יהודים שלמים ,הן

בהיותם בבית והן בלכתם ברחוב ,הן בהיותם בישיבה והן בצאתם

מהישיבה .בזה רצוני להוסיף גם את ברכתי ,שהשי״ת יעזור לכם שמספר

התלמידים והתלמידות יגדל עוד ועוד ,שבקרוב תוכלו לומר שהמקום אינו

מספיק ונדרש בנין עוד יותר גדול מהנוכחי.

הנני מסיים בברכה ,כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה לכל

העובדים במוסד הק׳ וידידיו ,בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
