To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Yitzchak Meir[1],

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of Erev Shabbos Re'eh, in which you tell me that you are a mashgiach* in a retirement home belonging to the Joint, that it is difficult for you to obtain there what you wish, for you cannot make yourself heard. You therefore ask me whether you should consider taking up another activity.

Hashem has brought it about that, thanks to you, it is possible to eat kosher in this retirement home. As long as you are there, you can act so that not only the food but also the ideas may be kosher[2]. In my opinion, you should therefore not leave your post, and I am convinced that you will find the means to exercise your influence on the one who will allow you to make your voice heard.

It is difficult to imagine the merit which is constituted by the possibility of making everything proceed in the best manner in this retirement home. I am sure that you will receive berachah and hatzlachah* in your personal concerns and have much nachas* from your children.

With my berachah to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year,

N. B.: Enclosed is an excerpt[3] from the sichah* of Shabbos Mevarchim*[4] Elul. You will surely make good use of it, in the appropriate manner, with the residents of the retirement home.

קבלתי מכתבו מעש״ק ראה ,בו כותב שהוא משגיח על כשרות במושב

זקנים של הג׳וינט ,וקשה לו לפעול את מה שרוצה ,כי לא בכל רוצים לציית

למה שרוצה ,ושואל האם יעבור להתעסק ב] . [ . . .

דעתי היא ,שמאחר שהשי״ת נתן לו דבר כזה ,מקום שביכולתו לסייע

שהמושב זקנים יתנהל בכשרות ובודאי כשיהי׳ שם יוכל להשפיע ,שלא רק

מה שמכניסים בקיבה יהי׳ בכשרות ,אלא גם שמה שמכניסים בראש יהי׳

בכשרות ,לדעתי אינו צריך לעזוב משרה זו ,ובטוחני שכאשר יחפש עצות גם

ימצא את הדרכים המתאימות להשפיע ,על מי שהדבר תלוי בו שימלאו את

הוראותיו ,והשכר על כך שהמושב זקנים ינוהל על טהרתו ,קשה לשער את

הזכות שבזה ,ולכן בטוחני שזה יביא לו ברכה והצלחה בעניניו הפרטיים

וגם נחת מילדיו יחיו.
