By the grace of Hashem,

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter and was pleased to learn that, little by little, you are working to resolve the problems of your kehillah*. With the appropriate effort and adapted means, Hashem will grant that your work be fruitful, that you advance from one stage to the next to strengthen Yiddishkeit* and to spread Torah throughout your surroundings.

I read with much satisfaction that you have begun the collection of funds for the construction of the mikveh*, and I therefore do not understand why you then say that you must postpone the work.

You ask me about the rabbinate of Rio de Janeiro. I believe that the situation on the spot is quite complicated. If your actions are crowned with success in your kehillah, the moment is not propitious for you to involve yourself in the disorder of Rio de Janeiro.

As you ask me at the end of your letter, I will mention your name and those of the members of your family when I am at the Ohel* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, for the satisfaction of all your needs.

Enclosed is an excerpt[1] from the sichah* of Shabbos Mevarchim*[2] Elul, and my collective letter[3] addressed to the talmidim* of the schools on the occasion of the start of the school year. If it can be useful to you, I will be very pleased.

With my berachah that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year,

שלום וברכה!

מכתבו קבלתי בעתו, ושמחתי לקרות בו אשר לאט לאט התחיל להתעסק לתקן את הענינים בקהלתו, ובטח בהשתדלות הראוי' ובאופנים המתאימים יצליח השי"ת את עבודתו וילך מחיל אל חיל בהחזקת היהדות ובהפצת התורה בכל סביבתו.

ביחוד שמחתי לקרות במכתבו אשר התחיל באסיפת כספים לבנין המקוה, וא"מ מה שמסיים אח"כ שמוכרח הוא לדחות את הבנין.

בנוגע למה ששואל דעתי בענין הרבנות בריא דע זשאנעירא, הנה כפי הידוע לי מסובך שם הדבר, ולא כ"כ "חלק" ואם רואה הוא הצלחה בפעולותיו בקהלתו, הרי עכ"פ לע"ע אין כדאי להסתבך בענין ריא דע זשאנעירא.

כבקשתו בהפ"נ בסוף מכתבו, הנה כשאהי' על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אזכירו ואת ב"ב שי' לכאו"א להמצטרך לו.
