Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter, in which you put to me the following question. You wish to enroll your three-year-old daughter in kindergarten. You have the possibility of doing so in a school whose language of instruction is Yiddish, and you ask me what I think of it.

In my opinion, this is positive — for in matters of chinuch* of children, and especially of its outset, only yiras Shamayim* is to be taken into account. Now, all agree that what is imparted by this school is superior to many others. There is therefore no reason to take other elements into account, and one must hold solely to the essential point.

With my berachah for a good settlement, for material and spiritual expansiveness alike, for Yiddishe and chassidishe nachas* from all your children, and that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

קבלתי מכתבו, בו שואל באשר רוצה להכניס בת שלש לגן ילדים, ויש הצעה להכניסה להגן ששם שפת הלימוד הוא באידיש ושואל חוו"ד.

הנה לדעתי נכון הדבר, כי העיקר במה שנוגע בחינוך הילדים והילדות בכלל ובפרט התחלת החינוך הוא הענין דיראת שמים ומכיון שהכל מודים שהחינוך דשם הוא טוב יותר מבאחרים במקצוע זה, אין להתחשב עם נמוקים אחרים, כי הכל בטל מפני העיקר.

בברכת הסתדרות מתאימה ופרנסה טובה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד, ונחת אידישן חסידישן נחת מכל ילידי' שי' וכוח"ט לשנה טובה ומתוקה.
