Igrot Kodesh · Letter 1157 — Geulah

Volume 4 · Letter 393 · [Mena’hem Av 5711]

[Menachem Av 5711]

I was pleased to take note of your decision to dedicate yourself to the dissemination of the light of Chassidus*.

I regret only that you defer this activity to a later time, while "he[1] stands behind our wall"[2]. Only the spreading of the wellsprings[3] forms the obstacle[4].

And one can imagine the pain represented by one more moment in galus*, the pleasure brought by one more moment having known the geulah*.

Notes

[1] Moshiach.

[2] Shir HaShirim 2:9 — interpreted of Moshiach, whose coming is imminent.

[3] Of Chassidus.

[4] Because the spreading has not yet been sufficiently realized — see the famous letter of the Baal Shem Tov to his brother-in-law Rabbi Gershon of Kitov, the iggeres ha'kodesh of Aliyas HaNeshamah, in which Moshiach replied "when your wellsprings will spread outward."

[מנ"א ה'תשי " א ]
